This song is inspired by a poem I wrote after the Chernobyl nuclear accident.  It carries special meaning because I have family in Ukraine.

This song started out called "Raw" and I was going to put lyrics to it, but it took off in a different direction and I kept feeling the vibe of the city after a gig.  The late nights, coming home in the wee hours.  People were just waking up and I was going to sleep.  It came to be about the city, about the Metros all over the world.

This music is a reflection on the liminality of the fringe.  Living in a location that has fuzzy borders,  and fuzzy rules.  Living between two or more worlds and surviving and thriving. 

Using recordings of coyotes and granular synthesis of other nature sounds, I created this song as a journey into "Life in the Fringes".  While coyotes epitomize those that thrive in the fringe, I hope the music also helps you reflect on how many different creatures, even you and I, find ourselves in the Fringes and how we can respond.

salo means 'fat' or 'sludge' in Ukrainian. I was drawn to the harmonica and sax and how they could complement each other in thus slow moving trippy, glitchy tune. it's also the title of a 1975 Italian Artsy Horror film. A colleague brought that to my attention. I leave it to you to judge how this song impacts you.
