The young artist has teamed up with house music dignitary Musumeci to produce the track, which is the second single from her forthcoming album on Music For Dreams.
 
‘Can’t Stop Crying’ gets straight to business with a classic rave-inspired breakbeat rigged with a hard-headed synth groove and piercing string stabs. The track’s cynical, metallic vibe combines with the brazen sentimentality of Pavon’s vocals, forming a sense of anguishing romance, a lone heart beating out against the hollow night.
 
This ambivalent mood of the track echoes Pavon’s ambition of capturing emotional contrasts and dualities with her music. As she says, the most interesting things in life have both an exhilarating and distressing effect.
 
Still yet to release her first full-length album, Julie Pavon has impressed critics and audiences alike with her “combustible blend of impassioned lyrics and club-geared beats” (DJ Mag). She has been compared to artists such as Charlotte Adigéry and Kelly Lee Owens, while being touted as “the nation’s fiercest live performer” by Danish critics (Soundvenue).
 
Her previous singles, released over the past few years, include the house-pop banger ‘Lost Child’ and the underground disco-house enigma ‘Don’t Call Me Out’, both of which were named track of the week by Danish radio (DR P3). In 2023, Pavon released the EP Watch Her Dance, adding to her boisterous dancefloor output a more introverted, brooding expression (‘Hey Sister’, ‘Watch Her Dance’).

Long warm summer nights are back, even here in Belgium, and we all know there's no better way to soundtrack them than by pressing play on some sun kissed disco. Well, guess what... you're in luck as Andrew Armstrong's new collaboration as Daddy Squad with celebrated French chanteuse Corine is almost as sun kissed and as disco as you could want. Almost, that is. Whilst the original positively pulsates with an ecstatic joie de vivre, there was still room there to give it a little bit more of a sunset backdropped roof party vibe. With L’Espoir, Danish producer Mike Salta revisits a long-time musical love – reimagining the 1989 Caribbean classic by Ravan through a Balearic lens.

“I’ve always adored Ravan’s L’Espoir. Its joyful, bombastic spirit stuck with me, but the high-energy tempo made it difficult to weave into my more laid-back sets,” Mike explains. “I’ve wanted to reinterpret it for years – and finally found the right way in.”

Starting with a fresh electronic foundation of chords and melodic leads, Mike built a slower, warmer groove – grounded in Balearic, roots and reggae traditions. To complement the track’s organic feel, he sought out two Cuban street musicians, whose acoustic contributions brought an earthy, human touch to the arrangement.

Mike also takes on the vocals himself – gently reshaping the original Creole lyrics into a more French-leaning delivery, while staying true to the emotional core of the song.

The result is a heartfelt reinterpretation – glowing with rhythm, memory, and a deep respect for its origins. A track that lives up to its name: L’Espoir – “hope”.
 
The single comes as part the Danish electronic artist’s next album, which follows his celebrated 2024 debut Moloko Island.  
 
The music of Mike Salta flaunts an eclectic palette, collecting sounds from unexpected places and merging them in his rich, melodic, sun-drenched dance music.
