◍ What is the inspiration and vision behind Living Room?
* Bringing people together, giving people space to communicate through music and around music, cultivating a sense of community in Lisbon, and a feeling of connectedness with artists we love nearby and faraway.
* One of the biggest inspirations to start was probably Cosmos as a venue. The homey and friendly atmosphere fit naturally with the music we were sharing with each other at the time, and it gave us a place to share that with others too. During the pandemic, it also become one of the few places where people felt safe to come enjoy music, and that also informed the kind of music we played, and the artists we've been inviting to perform. We're also growing and learning together. They're like our little plot of soil.

◍ What are some of your collective utopian dreams?
* To keep sustainably being able to bring artists we hold so dearly to Lisbon in the fluid DIY manner we’ve been doing so far, and continue to grow the local Living Room community which includes a lot of our friends and people of the local ambient scene. It’s something not only for us as a collective but also for those around us.
* It feels really special to be able to create this space for people to come together and enjoy music that you might not normally find when going out to a gig or to a night. People know they can come and just hang out, get comfy, and sink into some lovely sounds. It feels rare, and we're grateful to be able to keep doing it. Maybe our utopian dreams are already here?
* If all goes well we’ll soon have friendship bracelets available for all the lovely people around us:)

◍ Can you share a little bit about what you’ve included in this mix?
* We tried to include a lot of artists that are inspiring for Living Room and for us individually, and also recent finds that we want to keep exploring.


◍ Any exciting things in the near future for Living Room?
* We’re bringing some artists from the 3XL crew next month and doing our first club night, besides the monthly cosmos event. It will be our most busy month yet and we are crazy excited!

When speaking of current electronic music it is inevitable to not come across Musumeci. The busy Sicilian artist is - unlike other in-demand musicians - no overnight sensation but has steadily made his way to the top over the past decades. Whether as a solo artist, a member of Human Machine or cooperations with long time friends and musical affiliates like Lehar or Olderic Musumeci's music has the finger on the pulse as it manages to touch people at an emotional level due to its melodious focus that goes a long way towards losing people's daily struggles or sorrows. As a matter of fact Mauro, how close friends call Musumeci, not merely has proven that his own music productions strike a chord, but his signings for labels such as Multinotes, Engrave Ltd or Buttress, which he all co-founded, have done the same. Nevertheless the multi-talented artist remains humble and approachable for his followers, friends and musical family. Mauro's art:cast reflects all of the aforementioned: a well-chosen track-selection creating an overall driving sub-tone as the listeners gets soaked into the synth-based melodies to utterly lose themselves to the music that is emotionally accessible, pleasing and foremost represents an insight to the artist and his way to connect with his followers.

Italian DJ and producer but foremost musical genius and enthusiast Toto Chiavetta has stired the electronic music scene with complex arrangements, with sound arrays as strong and memorable that it's almost impossible to name them individually but rather understand the momentum when listening to his music in its entirety. 2018 has seen the Catanian releasing three EPs on renowed labels such as Innervisions, Mule Musiq and Yoruba Records, namely 'Harmony Somewhere', 'Magnus' and 'Nagnu Jubo (Remixes)', a single track, 'The Paranoid GoGo' on Multinotes' – run by Lehar, Musumeci and Olderic, and a remix for Eagles & Butterflies' tune 'The Last Dance'. When speaking of Toto Chivetta it is inevitable not to talk about his versatility as his music contains various elements from different cultures and styles with the artist  combining them skillfully so that any electronic music affiliate can pick out Toto's characteristic sound. For Torture the Artist's jubilee art:cast Chiavetta focused on a slow build-up, on music that does not necessarily find its way to the club or the dance floor or as the artist said '20-30 minutes are fore the dancers'. While some of selected tracks for Toto's art:cast on the one side depict the basis and the strength to catch up with his groove others express Toto's experimental and playfull musical approach. However, if you entirely dive into the artist's world of sound, you will not only witness new sound-experiences but feel the bound between humans and music as Chiavetta's music will slowly become part of your   musical expression and introduce you to new perspectives.

Followers of ambient music will no doubt know Ario as the man behind @astralindustries, the revered label that fuses reissued work with new releases from some of the most exciting artists in the genre. Despite the challenges thrown up by 2020, this year alone has seen AI releases from @multicastdynamics, The Chi Factory and Waveform Transmission, among others, and 2021 already promises to be even more prolific for both the label and its boss. 

Yet London-based Ario is just as much a DJ in his own right, with a sound that evades neat categorisation: drawn to the “deeply ritualistic and primal” side of drone, yet partial to the occasional dance floor set, he is reluctant to get too concrete when discussing his own music. His Patterns of Perception 77 is designed to challenge the listener – built on the belief that, contrary to what many may think, an ambient set is not necessarily designed to soothe and subdue.
