Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.

Claque Musique’s latest is a collaborative V/A affair which again displays just why Carola Pisaturo’s imprint is so widely renowned amongst fans of clued in house and techno.
Featuring eight classy cuts, the action kicks off with ‘B.B.’, an astute and measured house track that’s pure club fodder.
A collaborative effort between Pisaturo and her fellow Italian Donato Dozzy, it’s a muscular, restrained slice of harmonic bliss that’s sure to go down a treat. 
Next up is Iuly.B’s  ‘Alien Acid’.
As the title would suggest, this is a frenzied acid track that takes its cues from vintage Chicago planes. Hypnotic and sensuous, it’s a neat antidote to the more restrained leanings of ‘B.B’. 
The B side, meanwhile, kicks off with a solo effort from Carola Pisaturo, entitled ‘Ganzirri’.
Full of warped out triply vocals and spiky drums, it’s another lively track that’s primed for peak time floors.
Seeing us out the door is The Hush’s ‘Twins’.
A masterfully deep effort, it’s full of warm, glossy textures but also packs more than enough punch to get the ‘floor moving in unison. 
The second half of the 2-x vinyl package gets underway thanks to up-and-comer The Museri, who conjures up a fine slice of bristling tech on the creepy jam that is “Brown Cat”.
A banging anthem that’s full of suspense aplenty, it’s the sort of track that will act as a wonderful transition into the more uptempo moments of the night.
Zoo Project regular Federico Grazzini then takes the reins with “Owl”, another track with a hypnotic sheen.
This time, the focus is on warped disco synths and clever, meandering beats as well as a bassline that’s sure to be loved by one and all.
Calma’s “Cenere” ups matters considerably, with its squelchy flavours making its intentions clear from the offset.
Lastly, Analog Inside’s “Deep Time 808” does exactly what it says on the tin by harking back to vintage deep, Detroit-inspired planes.
All things considered, this is another fantastic package that once again displays the dexterity and diversity for which Claque is rightly known.

As it strides on into its 11th year, German label Kindisch is back with another of its
excellent Kindisch Stories compilations, this time headed up by Dance Spirit after a
fine edition from Bedouin in 2016.Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius are Dance Spirit, a duo that has been turning out compelling electronic music on labels like Supernature, Rebellion and Akbal
Music since 2014. Passionate about timbre, melody and movement, their music is
sensitive stuff that makes for steamy dancefloor excursions and takes the pair behind
it all over the world as residents for Flying Circus. Here they show off their selecting
and sequencing skills with a 13 track offering that features five brand new tracks and
eight of their own exclusive remixes from the label’s back catalogue.
Things kick off with a flurry of Dance Spirit originals: ‘Enouement’ is a tech cut with a
middle eastern feel thanks to the organic string sounds and glitchy textures, then
‘Piercing the Veil’ offers a nice supple and rubbery groove to get lost in before the
pair link with Robbie Akbal for ‘Moving Shapes’, a seven minute masterpiece of loose
and jumbled percussion, popping percussive sounds and jostling minimal beats. It is
brilliantly atmospheric and really soundtracks a unique world.
From there Dance Spirit show off their remix skills with great versions of tracks by
Nick Galemore, Powell and Gab Rhome, all of which are magically musical as well as
slick and groove driven: lingering pianos and sombre chords all colour the airwaves
and make for an intoxicating mood that sucks you right in.
This carries on through the second half and excellent remixes of YokoO, Stavroz and
LUM. It’s back to original material then with a track featuring Hana Choe that bubbles
with spacey chords and dreamy vocals. The whole splendid selection closes down
with a trio of delicately designed and intricately detailed cuts that are absorbing and
woozy and finish this selection in style.
Both as a compilation and testament of the skill of Dance Spirit as producers, this is a
fantastic statement.
