“Shu Hal Ayyam” is a reimagined version of one of the most beloved pieces by Ziad Rahbani, the legendary Lebanese composer, playwright, and cultural icon. Originally released in the 1980s, the track captures a unique blend of melancholy and rhythm that has always resonated deeply with me.

This version is a personal tribute, blending the original vocals and melodies with layered percussion and modern textures in memory of a figure whose music has shaped so much of Arabic cultural identity.

As the A2 offering on Erwin’s Ceylon EP - the second release on his boutique imprint Arepas Records - “Coconut Sambal” stands out as one of the EP’s most emotive and immersive dishes. While the label continues its culinary-inspired storytelling and collectible artwork concept, the music itself remains the true flavour carrier. And here, Erwin cooks up something deep, melodic, and quietly intoxicating.

“Coconut Sambal” drifts in on a warm, padded groove, immediately setting a dreamy tone while keeping one foot firmly in the dancefloor. The percussion stays understated yet precise, leaving space for the track’s defining elements to unfold: glowing synth lines that ebb and flow like slow waves, hints of Acid that curl around the edges without overpowering, and soft vocal phrases that add a human, almost meditative tenderness.

This blend - Deep House foundations, melodic sensitivity, light Acid breath, and vocal warmth - creates a piece that feels both introspective and inviting. It’s a track that doesn’t shout for attention but earns it through atmosphere, depth, and emotional resonance. Erwin’s long-standing ability to merge minimal clarity with dreamy textures is fully present here, refined further under his new moniker.

Within the EP’s tasting-menu structure - preceded by Für Immer and followed by Bibikkan - “Coconut Sambal” plays the role of the subtle yet flavor-rich middle course. Where the opener sets the scene and the closer delivers sweetness, “Coconut Sambal” offers the EP’s most contemplative moment: smooth, aromatic, and designed to linger long after playtime.

Kevin - as he’s known in real life - is a long-standing figure in the house and techno scene. Throughout his extensive career, he has achieved remarkable milestones, releasing on Afterlife, HOSH’s fryhide, and the acclaimed Traum imprint, among several other distinguished labels that shape his rich discography.
The title track, 'We Forgot To Say', is a major-key dancefloor gem, driven by emotive synth work and Kevin’s own vocals - natural and smooth, blending seamlessly with cosmic background ad-libs that elevate the track’s hypnotic groove.
'Mystery', true to its name, is a mystical and trippy journey - a piece that captures GROJ’s artistic vision in full bloom. Its symbiotic, syncopated arpeggios weave into a living composition meant to move and mesmerise.
