I love the entertwining waves of notes. It seems as if the journey of Ceolfrith, though ending sadly, was one of joy and nice expectations.

This is a delicate interplay of guitar and violin, where each note seems to paint a path filled with hope and serenity. The melody flows gently, creating a romantic and dreamy atmosphere, like an embrace that lifts the soul towards places of peace and light 😍

Nice song, nice arrangement and guitar sound - I was christened in St Peters Church Wearmouth where the monastery stood.

According to St. Bede, Ceolfrith set out from his monastery on 4 June 716, a thursday. Among the things he took with him was an enormous book, a gift he intended to deliver at his earthly destination. The giant book Ceolfrith took with him, now known as Codex Amiatinus, is the oldest surviving, complete Latin Bible in the world.  Ceolfrith took one of the three giant bibles written in the Wermouth monastery, where he was the abbot, as a gift for St Peter’s shrine in Rome. " ... and got on a horse, speeding away from the land of the Angles to the lands where, with a freer and purer spirit for contemplating angels, he might be delivered to Heaven".
On 12 August Ceolfrith "reached the lands of Gaul", where he was received with honour by King Chilperic himself. The party then travelled over land. Ceolfrith went part of the way on horseback and part of the way being carried on a litter, as he was becoming ill. He reached Langres around 9am on 25 September. He died there on 29 September 716.

I am an university professor of history who enjoys playing (guitar and piano/keyboard) and composing: unpretentious, just for fun. As a consequence, the most of my recordings (made with KorgD8 / Audacity and also Reaper now, for MIDI and the Spitfire Audio sound libraries) are handcrafted and largely imperfect.
My stuff consists of old songs (all wrote in the past century; here are only those I have redone in these last years) and old and new instrumentals (usually in various versions, some of which are removed at some point because they're unlistenable). 
Thank you in any case for stopping here to listen to something; in the description area you can find often explanatory notes or lyrics translations.

Here I found a community of great musicians and songwriters and a lot of beautiful music to listen to; you can be sure that any liking, commenting or reposting by me is a consequence of careful listening to the tracks. Obviously, for this very reason, I am not interested in collecting free ‘likes’ without real listening. I will not answer any messages from possible promoters: the number of followers does not interest me in the slightest. 
By popular demand (well, exclusively my daughter's — she says it's the "cooler" platform), I'm finally starting to put some of my stuff on Spotify too...
