It's always very easy to tell whether an instrumental piece "works", and that is when it does what this piece does.  It sneaks gently up on you, whispers your eyes closed with a gossamer puff of a smile, then lifts you, oh so delicately, by your audio senses and whirls you gently about whilst snuffling its own storyline into your mind before plopping you, mildly, but delightfully surprised, back into your chair.  Then you hit the play button again.  Simple, really.

Long time ago during the Cold War in a small apartment in Dessau 🇩🇪
a 2 year old brother was introduced to his new baby brother, both boys were adorable with blonde hair & blue eyes.. 
one year later the older brother went by train to visit his Oma in Berlin.. 
that was the last time the brothers ever saw each other again..
the barbwire went up & the wall was enforced, forcing the 3year old brother to stay in the East while his younger brother (and Mother) made it to Aachen to live with the other Oma.. 
20years later the wall came down only boy left was the younger brother who grew up with the PolarBears in🇨🇦Canada..
he was a Diesel mechanic by trade
but he’s been writing & creating music since he was 6 years old..
I Created this song In memory of my older brother..

I could have arranged the parts better and tried different solutions, but I am beginning to feel a certain musical tiredness. So I leave the track as it is, maybe in a few years I will try again.

Here's one last draft: I've temporarily finished working on this damn track, but I've posted it and then deleted it many times since the beginning of 2024.

Inspired by my recent trip to the Mediterranean

Evening in Venice

I am an university professor of history who enjoys playing (guitar and piano/keyboard) and composing: unpretentious, just for fun. As a consequence, the most of my recordings (made with KorgD8 / Audacity and also Reaper now, for MIDI) are handcrafted and largely imperfect, even though this year I learned to work with sample libraries.
My stuff consists of old songs (all wrote in the past century; here are only those I have redone in these last years) and old and new instrumentals (usually in various versions, some of which are removed at some point because they're unlistenable). 
Thank you in any case for stopping here to listen to something; in the description area you can find often explanatory notes or lyrics translations.

Here I found a community of great musicians and songwriters and a lot of beautiful music to listen to; you can be sure that any liking, commenting or reposting by me is a consequence of careful listening to the tracks. Obviously, for this very reason, I am not interested in collecting free ‘likes’ without real listening. I will not answer any messages from possible promoters: the number of followers does not interest me in the slightest. 
By popular demand (well, exclusively my daughter's — she says it's the "cooler" platform), I'm finally starting to put some of my stuff on Spotify too...
