1904, March 27, Genoa.
It is said that by studying well and taking advantage by the direction and strength of the wind, Étienne Bugnion that day, at Ponte Carrega, had scored Juventus a goal from the middle of the field.
Will it be true?
It matters little. It was the only goal in the final of the italian national football championship (senior category). The Genoa Cricket and Foot-ball Club was taking its third consecutive title, winning therefore also (and definitely) a silver cup put up for grabs by its president, George Fawcus, and to the same entitled. Very nice - you can see the remembrance photo (a bit touched up, you can tell); the gentlemen posing are footballers and are holding on to it, but to be honest there was little risk of that the cup would end up in different hands.
Of seven national trophies awarded until then, only one did not show itself in the Genoa's FC trophy museum; twelve games at all since 1899, six titles won. How many clubs in the world can boast such an average?
At its dawn in Italy, it was skimpy football, a game that few could really play.

The song was composed and performed by Manuel (2021). I slightly arranged and mixed it, and wrote the related story.

Jazz-Blues song in 3/4 time about trying to forget the past and forgive those who hurt you in bygone days. Features a heartfelt bluesy vocal, some Blue Note approved tenor sax and a bluesy guitar solo.

Hello! I’m a university professor of history who enjoys playing guitar and piano/keyboard, and occasionally composing — unpretentiously, just for fun.
Most of my recordings (made with a KorgD8, Audacity, and more recently Reaper for MIDI and the Spitfire Audio libraries) are entirely homemade and decidedly imperfect.
My music includes old songs (all written back in the last century; here I’ve only shared the ones I’ve reworked in recent years) as well as both old and new instrumentals — usually in several versions, some of which eventually disappear because they’re simply unlistenable.

Thanks for stopping by and giving something a listen; in the description you’ll often find explanatory notes or translations of the lyrics.
Here I’ve discovered a community of talented musicians and songwriters, and plenty of beautiful music to enjoy. Whenever I like, comment, or repost a track, it’s always the result of attentive listening. For the same reason, I’m not interested in trading empty “likes” without real engagement, and I won’t reply to messages from would-be promoters — follower counts don’t matter to me in the slightest.

By popular demand (well, actually just my daughter’s — she insists it’s the “cooler” platform), I’ve finally started putting some of my music on Spotify too...
