Piano Day is celebrated every year on the 88th day as a piano has 88 keys. So this year is not a leap year so it falls on March 29 (2025). Like almost all of my other solo piano songs, this is a sit down and make it up on the spot song. Improv. I wish I had the patience and the attention span to write a song over a 6 month period. In Euripides' tragedy 'The Suppliants', a group of Argive mothers travels to Eleusis to plead with Theseus, king of Athens, to help them recover the bodies of their sons, who fell during the failed assault on Thebes. The Thebans, in fact, refuse to return the corpses for burial. These mothers, immersed in profound grief, represent the universal symbol of maternal mourning in the face of the loss of their children in war.

When I heard Rekha years ago, I couldn't stop thinking about how I could adapt a song to her voice.

Thanks to Delaflor, who had already collaborated with her, she was able to contact me and offer me a song. After several weeks of work, Manu added an excellent guitar riff that partially camouflaged my horrible synth guitar.

Ocean of Pines is a cinematic ambient journey for deep inner work forest air and shoreline light in slow motion. Designed for plant-medicine ceremonies (truffles, ayahuasca) and quiet introspection, each piece moves in gentle breaths: handpan, felt piano, soft strings, e-bow guitar and warm analog pads, woven with subtle field recordings (leaves, wind, waves). No harsh transients, no sudden shift only spacious pulses and long decays to keep you grounded while being carried along.

Hello! I’m a university professor of history who enjoys playing guitar and piano/keyboard, and occasionally composing — unpretentiously, just for fun.
Most of my recordings (made with a KorgD8, Audacity, and more recently Reaper for MIDI and the Spitfire Audio libraries) are entirely homemade and decidedly imperfect.
My music includes old songs (all written back in the last century; here I’ve only shared the ones I’ve reworked in recent years) as well as both old and new instrumentals — usually in several versions, some of which eventually disappear because they’re simply unlistenable.

Thanks for stopping by and giving something a listen; in the description you’ll often find explanatory notes or translations of the lyrics.
Here I’ve discovered a community of talented musicians and songwriters, and plenty of beautiful music to enjoy. Whenever I like, comment, or repost a track, it’s always the result of attentive listening. For the same reason, I’m not interested in trading empty “likes” without real engagement, and I won’t reply to messages from would-be promoters — follower counts don’t matter to me in the slightest.

By popular demand (well, actually just my daughter’s — she insists it’s the “cooler” platform), I’ve finally started putting some of my music on Spotify too...
