The editing on this is not the best; I know. I should mention that Travis Carlyle is brilliant at editing, even when he has an hour to mix down two songs between finishing an essay and leaving for Cape Town (which is what we did on Friday). Also, we didn't hear the background hiss on the computers we edited this on, which is weird. One day if I have enough money for a SoundCloud subscription, I'll replace this with a more fine-tuned file. For now, I hope you enjoy it anyway.

I wrote this when I was seventeen (you can tell). It's based on things that actually happened to me during my matric year; how I felt about the world at time, and why I decided to move cities as soon as I finished school.

The ironic thing is that I was actually captain of a team in high school. 

And yes, I know my guitar's squeaking is awful. Believe me, I've heard it. I think it's exacerbated by the fact that my current recording setup involves one strategically-positioned (albeit very good quality) microphone. Oh, and have you tried finding new guitar strings in my town lately? I know *I* failed. And cleaning my old ones with methylated spirits actually made things worse, I think. Huh.

I threw together this comically terrible cover for Travis' (http://soundcloud.com/indiesputable) and my two-year anniversary. 

I have now come to terms with the fact that my ukulele is perhaps better seen than heard. 

The accompanying picture is a mural at Bolo'Bolo Café in Observatory, Cape Town. It reminds me of Elliott Smith's remark in an interview about Pictures of Me, in which he says the song is "supposed to be about someone seeing other people doing things they don’t like, and it disturbs them because if another person could do something wrong, then you gotta figure, you can too.”

Still On Our Way To The Sea

This is one of my favourite tracks off Reflektor. I love the way Arcade Fire took on issues of abuse and exclusion in this album. 

I recorded this with a headphone mic (no more Journ department equipment store), which is why it sounds like it's raining in the background. 

My accordion was manufactured between 1920 and 1925 and bought by my parents for R100 at a charity auction, which may explain its slightly limited functionality.
