My biggest struggle as a producer has always been trying to accurately capture the concept / ideas that I hear in my head.
Learning more and more about orchestral arrangements and programming in a DAW sense, has allowed me to ever get closer. 
I decided to rearrange this piece as I have always felt that years ago when I had originally composed this, I lacked the musical maturity, technical expertise (mastering / mixing) or virtual instruments to capture accurately what I was hearing in my head.

Homegrown Los Angeles soul chanteuse Brit Manor (formerly known as Brit Laurén) is carving out her solo path with a powerful debut single on the Bastard Jazz label. Growing up wailing in churches and performing in choirs, Brit has recently been making a name for herself with features on label partner Captain Planet's hit tracks like "In The Gray" (2014) and "Get You Some" (2011, prominently featured on the Emmy Nominated Orange Is The New Black), as well as extensive touring and recording with soul sweetheart Nick Waterhouse (Innovative Leisure), disco-pop band Yellow Alex & the Feelings, and psych-garage artist Ty Segall (Drag City).

“Diamond in the Rough" (produced by Chuck Wild aka Captain Planet) is an electronically charged cosmic prayer to disheartened women who are in search of themselves. Backed with rock hard beats that magnify Brit's soaring vocals, lyrically the track embodies the power, magic and delicacy of being alive and growing up. As Brit says, “Young women are more than just pretty things; we are electric, mystical, fallen stars, and buried treasures - we are diamonds in the rough.”

The long time triple-threat caused previous sonic waves with her self-released EP series Autoportraits (2011), vocal features on label partner Captain Planet tracks like "In The Gray" (2014) and "Get You Some" (2011, featured prominently on the Orange Is The New Black), and touring and recording collaborations for Nick Waterhouse, Ty Segall, Yellow Alex & the Feelings, Kilo Kish and many more. She also participated in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in 2015.

Only Child (produced solely by Captain Planet with the exception of “W8N4U produced by Mike Gao) is a coming of age mini-album that conjures the spirits of a dark past and prays for a cosmic future. Its about taking stock of ourselves, letting go of old ghosts or habits, and moving forward in power and luminescence. Only Child explores reincarnation, parents, lovers, divinity, womanhood, depression, solitude and secrets. It is electronic future soul with organic instrumentation that should settle in the chest.

A dancer 1st, DJ 2nd, and lyricist 3rd. As a little kid Michelle Q loved Disco and grew up watching Solid Gold, then loved Hip-Hop and dreamed of dancing on In Living Color or Soul Train. She wanted to be a Fly-girl or Laker-girl, but instead went on a journey to become a B-girl. She made her first dance mixes in high school using 2 tape-decks, then collected records, carried crates and turntables to gigs, and asked friends, "Where did you find that remix?".  After DJ'ing for Emcee's she started writing songs with them, and was shown how self expression can transcend from the turntables to the microphone.  

She gives ultimate respect to every element of Hip-Hop, the culture, its teachers, and its ability to unite. She searches for music that’s soulful, funky, hype, hard-hitting, bass-driven, thought-provoking or melodic. Her goal is to bridge people together with music, and most of all inspire them to dance.
