Working version of the 8th new song by Yoghurt (.fm) since we got back to work (band fell out in 2006 but got together again late 2010): 'The Europe of thieves'. Guitarist Caspar Spilker, who also wrote the music, plays guitar, programmed the drums, recorded the above and engineered the whole. Bassist Victor Vos plays his self-recorded Chapman Stick. Chielie wrote the lyric, cooked up the vocal melody and delivered the vocals in Caspar's home studio.

Working version of a new Kookaburra song, 'Shapes', that I recorded for the band. Drummer Lester Brunt wrote and recorded the music, I wrote the lyric, devised the vocal rhythm and added the vocal.

Soon, this parlando version will be the basis for one that contains an actual melody line for the vocal, which I'll also write. Then, we might add backing vocals. And of course, our two guitarists and bassplayer will get lots of room. Definitely one guitarsolo to come.

I took part in the Nijmegen 4 Day Marches 12 times. I got to finish 11 of those, because 1 was cut short in 2006 due to two deaths on the course.

This was my goal, because it enabled me to join the Gouden Kruisdragers Vereniging (a society of those who completed 10 or more editions) and attend their yearly meeting.

Which I most usually find entirely boring but for one thing: at the end of it, a small band of musicians enters the room and all participants sing the Vierdaagselied, the hymn for the march.

Given the experience, it is an experience to die for.

And so here's the version I recorded myself. I also am the voice you hear loudest, and the commentary while at it is also mine. I take none of it back.

But I love the entire endeavour. It holds a special place in my heart and soul.
