Lights Out
So this had been carrying on for some time now. I had no idea how long, no point of reference.
I came upon a small girl stood at a crossroads, her face painted with coal and white ash.
Covering her bones was a bright red dress, torn and frayed and in her hand she held onto a wooden staff with what looked like the skull of a human infant atop.
I felt no fear towards the child, I did not intend to break my stride.
As I moved closer I could see that the dress had bells and other trinkets attached  and they all rattled as she stamped her staff onto the burnt, dry floor.
She opened her eyes, big and white, and with her left hand she pointed towards the sky.
She muttered something under her breath and I leant in to drink up the words.
She said "The lights go out tonight"

Later on that day as the sunset, I waited for the usual chorus of lights that were the stars.
Being able to see them now was the only real improvement of the New World.
I wait and I wait, but none could be seen. I wait and I wait but none could be seen.
And with the wait I feel the hope drain from me. Then I remembered.
She said "The lights go out tonight"

Lights Out (Demo)

This is a cat song about me brown cat Yellow. He's a bit naughty but he's me best friend. I found him years ago at the side of the road. He is called Yellow because as I was in me van, a song by Coldplay was on the radio, ya know, the one that goes "look at the stars, and how they shine for you...." I think it's called "Shine For You", anyway, as I approached him at the side of the road, I noticed that he had just savaged half a dozen baby chicks, and bits of them were lying around everywhere. He was covered in yellow feathers so thats where he got his name. He was only small and had been abandoned so I bundled him up in bubble wrap and took him on the rest of me delivery round and then took him home. His favourite food is spam and he eats loads. I have a collection of spam tin keys, I keep them in a spam tin in the tin cupboard so no one will steal them if they break in because it just looks like all the other tins. HOORAY FOR YELLOW!!!
