Instantanée de 2011 ou ode à la vingtaine faussement innocente, c'est d'abord quatre promesses de lâcher prise qui gisent dans Eleven Shaking Twenty. Offrant des réverbes majestueuses à leurs pulsions simplistes, The Aerial mixent beats burnés et basse syncopée pour créer une cohérence folle – car improbable – entre chants courroucés, et palette de riffs aiguisés sur des nuages d'harmonies fondues ... du verre étincelant en somme.

Donne ta main et prends la leur, dans la tronche : Kick It Up se regarde et s'entend comme un rictus clamant que "rien est vrai, tout est permis". Un titre aux effets pervers qui viole les frontières interdites, jusqu'à ce que ce saxo überséducteur enfante poignée de fantasmes kitschs ( genre strip-tease eighties). Suivent alors la confession de leur mélomanie devant l'éternel (Clarity), devant des répliques d'adolescence (Losing My Head), et cet imparable hymne fondateur à la basse étoilée (Ticking Hearts). En bref : une belle insouciance qui masque un travail acharné.

Cet EP ou la bande son d'une atmosphère outrageusement respirable, The Aerial, qu'on ne comparera à rien, s'élève en formation de l'everywhere, du nulle part, de l'aérien.

La musique de The AERIAL réussit un grand écart très british. Hybride d’une pop de stade et d’une indie music à la gouaille des clubs de banlieue d’Angleterre, elle peut faire songer à The Streets ou Robbie Williams, et résumer la transition délicate entre les 80's et les 90's.

Qu’ils investissent la scène, quadrillent les réseaux ou déversent des flux de musique –volontairement gratuite, les 4 garçons (nancéiens/liverpuldien) énervent autant qu'ils apaisent, toujours à l’équilibre mais toujours sur le fil : the kids are all right, et ils savent ce qu’ils font.

Aux Découvertes de Bourges l'an dernier, ils ont imposé le silence pour mieux entendre les pas de danse d'un public transi. Aux Francofolies, ils ont réuni toutes les générations dans une même énergie : au MaMA Festival, ils présenteront sur scène leurs deux nouveaux singles, le 26 octobre au Backstage O'Sullivan (Paris).

Et ces nouveaux titres, parlons-en : la face A “A Day Like This” fracasse la vague néo-New Wave ascendant Disco sans effet de mousse, et la face B “Greatest Heights” donne une idée des hymnes Hip-Pop qu’ils sont capables d’ériger.

Sebastian Ingrosso has become synonymous with bringing young talent through the ranks and turing them into forces within the scene, so signing up this young, yes you guessed it, Swedish talent you would be right to expect big things. Kicking off the proceedings is the brilliant 'Million Voices' from Otto Knows that has already been supported heavily by a select few from the SHM camp's close circle and has been causing quite a stir around town.
