The young MC from Los Angeles, CA represents the jazzy 90s rap sound like no one else in 2023. Not only on the Westcoast but internationally. Kid Abstrakt is keeping the legacy of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul & The Pharcyde alive and relevant by using it as a source of inspiration to tell his own story. 

Kid Abstrakt started out as part of local trio Revolutionary Rhythm before releasing his first album “Daydreaming” in 2017, produced by The Deli from Austin, Texas. With a growing fanbase overseas Kid Abstrakt started working with producers and bands like Cap Kendricks (Germany), Emapea (Poland) and Jazzbois (Hungary).

“Still Dreaming” - his new album for Melting Pot Music - is entirely produced by Leo Low Pass from Amsterdam. Leo's signature sound of jazzy boom-bap and Lofi beats provides the perfect backdrop for Abs positive and skillful rhymes. One could easily dismiss “Still Dreaming” as a throwback album with a sound that is somehow stuck in the past. Kid Abstrakt’s love for that jazzy boom-bap is all over the place. He even raps about it - with the same passion and humbleness that he raps about his life, his family and the world we are living in today. That's why we rather call “Still Dreaming” feelgood music that doesn't suck.

Bio
Nao Yoshioka is a Japanese soul singer whose music combines elements of classic soul, R&B, and jazz to create a sound that is both timeless and modern. 
Born in Osaka, Japan, Nao grew up in a creative household, with her parents encouraging her and her sisters to explore their artistic talents. Her passion for music began at a young age, leading her to sing in a band while in school. She was drawn to the soulful sounds of artists like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin and began developing her own unique style.
Since her single ‘Make the Change’ was released in 2012, she quickly gained critical acclaim for her soulful, heartfelt performances. She has been lauded by several indie soul music veterans, including Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Gordon Chambers, the “King of Indie Soul”, Eric Roberson, and songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Khari Mateen (Jill Scott, The Roots). 
Over the years, her music has earned her a loyal following in Japan and around the world, with fans drawn to her soulful voice and honest, introspective lyrics. Nao’s music is deeply personal and draws on her experiences as a woman, an artist, and a human being. She tackles complex topics like love, loss, and identity with grace and sensitivity, using her powerful voice to convey both the pain and the beauty of the human experience.
While celebrating the 10th anniversary of her debut in 2022, Nao continued to expand her global activities from her base in Tokyo, with recent performances in the Netherlands and the UK, followed by a guest appearance at the newly-opened BLUE NOTE PLACE in Tokyo. She is currently looking forward to performing at the 2023 Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta and returning to Europe in the summer for shows at New Morning in Paris, The Jazz Cafe London, and TivoliVredenburg Club9 in the Netherlands.
With her soulful voice and powerful message, Nao Yoshioka is a rising star in the world of soul music and a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. She sees her music as a way to connect with people and inspire positive change.
