This track features singing by myself, my wife Jennifer and my guitar accompaniment. The guitar solo is excluded to keep the song simple.

Song in my Soul

I wrote this song when my youngest brother, Robert, passed away. He was just 18. He had just started University in Exeter. One afternoon, as he was walking back from town with two friends, a car drove onto the pavement and smashed him against a lamp post. He survived a few days in Intensive Care, but never regained consciousness.

Spirit Song

"The Fields of Athenry", written in the 1970s by Pete St. John, is an Irish folk ballad set during the Great Irish Famine (1845–1850) about a fictional man named Michael from near Athenry in County Galway who has been sentenced to transportation to Botany Bay, Australia, for stealing food for his starving family. It is a widely known and popular anthem for Irish sports supporters.

I enjoy writing and playing my own music. I now also enjoy recording my own songs and publishing them on Soundcloud to share with anyone who cares to listen. Some are also on YouTube.

I also enjoy learning and playing covers, including: The Beatles, The Monkees, The Eagles, Cat Stevens, Elvis, etc.  I play various instruments, but am most comfortable with an acoustic guitar.

My wife also plays various instruments, but is most comfortable with the accordion.  She was a winner at the National Accordion Championships, she has played in an accordion band and done gigs for parties and restaurants.

My wife and I met at Folkmob in Eltham, when it was held at the Tudor Barn. I played a song which I had just written, Sleep Softly, and she invited me to another music club which she was running at the time. We enjoy attending and playing at music clubs and open mic’s and Broadstairs Folk Festival in the August sunshine.
