Vril is still a relatively little known artist but already he has some great accolades to his name: He has released a couple of great EPs on Giegling sub label Staub, had a track on Marcel Fengler's Berghain mix, Dettmann's Conducted and now appears with the 103rd release on Delsin. What he serves up is three titanic techno tracks designed with maximum dancefloor damage in mind.

So big are these productions that we got a message back from that well known mastering company in germany. For some mystified causes some of our expensive equipment was crashing during the mastering session (!). They’ve been mastering records since over 20 years and that has never happened before like this.

The Vortekz EP starts with the title track and it's a dramatic bit of big room techno with nerve gangling chords and plenty of sonic grit. The dub version is slower and more purposeful and is buried in a much wider, deeper groove that snakes more than stomps. Finally comes 'y7/10', which rocks back and forth in the same rusted loop as percussion flutters like tin foil in a stormy wind. The track flows an ever-higher arc of tension that eventually erupts into a sea of analogue fuzz and hiccupping techno beats.

As usual, we asked Gal Kadan 5 (hard) questions:

HRDF: How did you find this track, any particular reason why you chose this one to edit?
Gal: This track is quite well known in Israël, I knew it since I was a little boy in the early nineties. It’s a ravey version of a very ancient Jewish chant, ‘Lord of Forgiveness’, that Sepharadic Jews sing on the month leading up to Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is a Jewish holiday where we ask god to forgive all of our sins from the past year. Actually when you think about it, could be quite a useful track for clubbers.
I chose it for two reasons - first because I’m obsessed with late eighties early nineties Israeli music that fuses western genres like acid and trance with traditional oriental elements. Second, because your label boss Tushen Raï asked me to! He got hooked on this track after I posted it on Facebook. Rumour has it he even got the super-rare 12” single now.

HRDF: What would you do if you weren’t making music?
Gal: Writing a book about Freudian Psychoanalysis of Charlie Kaufman films.

HRDF: Any favourite place in town?
Gal: Shout out to Anna Loulou bar, the only place around where I can drop a track like this at the peak of the night without getting weird looks from the crowd.

HRDF: What is your favourite saying?
Gal: Ma kore ahlan ahlan ma kore

HRDF: Do you fear karma?
Gal: Considering I’ve just edited someone else’s version of a religious chant and gave it away to download for free? Very much.

ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: Well... I (Cani) found it long time ago, it was around 98 with my cousin Carlos in Mexico. It's one of my favs... I was trying to do my first edit with a Mano Negra song. Here is the result.

HRDF: What would you do if you weren’t making music?
ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: (Jenouise) I could be involved in administration or something in a office. (Cani) Would be awesome to be a professional golfer haha. 

HRDF: Any favourite place in town?
ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: Our favorite place in town is our home. The most pacific place in town with our happy cat Frodo.

HRDF: What is your favourite saying?
ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: It's Animo! (Spanish). It means like Let’s go! Or to be positive always.
