One and a half years after his successful debut EP ‘You Like Jazz?’ on Salin Records, Michael Diamond comes back with another fresh and powerful release. Possessing a strong jazz feel albeit cloaked in the veil of a more modern electronic sound, the concept EP ‘Silk Road’ marks the next level for the 22-year-old as he dissolves any boundaries between genres, creating a symbiosis of sounds and textures to take you to places only he knows.

We still enjoy remembering how we celebrated the release of his ‘You Like Jazz EP’ back in January 2020, Oxford, where Michael Diamond and Christophe Salin DJed back-to-back alongside live improvisation from saxophonist Alex Wilson. It was at that special weekend that Michael played some of his latest ideas to us over a coffee in his student
room. They were the first versions of ‘Through Ivory Gate’ and ‘Adrift Penitent Moors (feat. Alex Wilson)’. Michael later wrote ‘Adrift Corrosive Waters (feat. Alex Wilson)’, ‘Glistening Currents’ and ‘Lullaby of Birdland’ especially for this EP and Salin Records. He decided to team up with his friend Alex Wilson again to provide some serenading sax lines to bring the whole story to life.
‘Through Ivory Gate’ pays homage to Michael’s Indian heritage. Inspired by the theme of Asian culture and the rest of the EP, Michael’s close friend Áine Kim Kennedy crafted an abstract poem to be read alongside listening to the music. It is a beautifully enigmatic verbalisation of the journey the EP intends to take you on.
Finally, Daria Salin embodied the music and poem through her painting. The final result is a marriage of artforms; Music, Poetry and Art, all to be absorbed together as a holistic experience.

Brassica returns with a brand new 12” single for Civil Music that includes new track "Get Down" and a remix of "Tears I Can Afford" from Belfast duo Bicep. 
‘"Get Down" arrives simultaneously with ‘Nature Isn’t Mute’; a deluxe extended edition of "Man Is Deaf", the producers debut album praised by Dazed & Confused and De:Bug and nominated for Album of the Year at the DJ Mag awards. "Nature Isn’t Mute" completes the Terence McKenna quote the album was named after and contains seven additional tracks.
On "Get Down" Michael Wright shows he hasn’t lost any of that Brassica magic with a heady 6 minute workout. As the track sprawls and unfurls, various elements come in and out of play, hinting at the foundations of the Brassica sound, with Wright guiding the listener along for a joyous ride. The single is backed by a remix of album track "Tears I Can Afford" courtesy of Belfast duo Bicep who embrace the occasion fully by extending the original to 8 minutes and playing with its acid elements in fine fashion.
Happier in the shadows than under the glare of projectors, Brassica continues to refine a unique sound and approach that has made him a favorite of your favorites. Already OUT, don't sleep

I didn’t upload any of my productions over the past 1,5 years, but I have been making music more than ever. 
I didn’t upload any of those tracks yet because my personal expectations became much higher. When I work on sets it takes me months of collecting and arranging all those carefully chosen tracks. When I work on my productions, I really go into detail and spend months perfecting the production, arrangement and mix... because I really want to tell a story with my music! I can’t wait to be done with my studies and solely focus on my music. Until then my output will be rare, that I’m sure of. 

But the day has come: I am finally uploading a new track of mine. A reinterpretation of Ludovico Einaudi’s “Una Mattina”. I took me quite a while to finish it, I even had it mastered two times, but now I just have to upload it to give you a glimpse of what I’ve been doing and how I’ve evolved over the past months (and to not go totally crazy while remixing and rearranging it another thousand times). 
And let me tell you one more thing... the best is yet to come! 😊
