On this first episode of 2016 we are proud to present the Budapest-based Hungarian producer/double bassist Dovim (Traum Schallplatten / MBF), he has been in a very strong connection with music since he was seven years old, after many years of cello studies, he started focusing on different instruments (guitar, bass and keyboards) and electronic music, as a classical musician he graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and since 2010 has been playing around the world with major Hungarian Orchestras.  A growing claim to produce his own music led him to start to experiment with synthesis, sampling and composing.
In October 2015, his EP “Scolopendra” came out on Traum’s sublabel My Best Friend (MBF).  Later in December 2015 his track “Mare Frigoris” was featured on the widely-known compilation Tour de Traum XI on the Traum label. Now in February 2016 he will release a new EP on Traum, certainly something to keep an eye on.

On this week’s episode we bring a live session by a super guest, Berlin based producer and label owner YAPACC (Perlon, Pfand, Lucidflow, Brise, Apparel).   Born in Frankfurt and now based in Berlin, YAPACC sways the electronic music scene and dancefloors with his live sound since the early 90s. His interest in music aroused by his experience with analogue electronics at a very young age. He wrote and released his first maelstrom recordings EP in 1997 under the techno duo pseudonym «Electrasmus». This was followed by a track at the Frankfurt's art label Poet Club Recording for the compilation «Inside 2» alongside Brian Eno, Shantel and Apex.

Henceforth emerged more than 250 releases by over 80 labels such as Neuton, Perlon, Wir/Treibstoff, Brise and Lucidflow, and remixes for Ricardo Villalobos, Italoboyz, Pascal Feos, 2raumwohnung and many more.

Since 2003 YAPACC has also been a member of the project «Narcotic Syntax» with James Dean Brown, which certainly has been an important part of the Perlon history. In the same year they released their first Perlon 036 «Ping Pong Voodoo», which was followed by plenty more on compilations and live analogue performances up until the present day.

YAPACC has impressed many international clubs and their visitors with his intensive and organic live performances at venues such as Panorama Bar , Fabric London, Watergate, Love Parade Berlin, Time Warp, Sonar Festival,Bar 25/Kater Holzig, Tresor, Harry Klein, Fuse Club, Studio 80, U60311, Airport, Bar Americas, Mix Club, Bootleg, The Bunker (nyc), Harvest Festival (ca), Fusion Festival, Closer Club, Propaganda Club, amongst many more.

Recently he founded the project "The Cabin" and the label «Pfand» with partner Hal Wong. Pfand will regulary release vinyls for club and listening platforms. YAPACC also has current projects with UFO Hawaii, Argenis Brito, Sierra Sam, Luca Torre, Katya Ryba and Red Pig Flower.

Beside his musical activities he works together with «MFB — Manfred Fricke Berlin», creating analog synthesizers and drum machines.

Ian Metty is an authentic artist who doesn't follow up trends, instead he follows "The Music In his Head", as he says. His music is melodic and yet deep, both danceable and mellow to listen at the same time.

Ian says music needs to be colorful, "its like a painting and you have to choose the right colors", the same applies to his music, where every sound has its own color and purpose.  He uses mostly analogue synthesizers and real instruments like piano, guitar, etc.

He currently lives between Berlin and Costa Brava and is spending most of his time making melodic electronic music. As a DJ, Ian has performed in London, Berlin, Moscow, Prague, Barcelona and other electronic music hot spots around Europe. His sets are full of energy, melodies, vocals and always display his passion for a good vibe.

Marcelo’s musical style is in  between Organic house and Tech house, and always includes a great deal of latin american percussions in his sets, is not strange to see the entire club trying to fit in the dance floor when he is playing. Flipping records and dancing by the side of dj Ben Abrahams for 18 years, their marriage is firmly rooted between decks and dance floor. Their child Eli has lived 6 years of immersion in the most delectable sound waves. They featured on dancefloors back in 2000, as Ben rocked forests and the infamous Melbourne nightclub Onesixone as the Earthcore resident, until a series of adventures found them inhabiting a church in the Byron Bay hills. Children, animals and wild folk were drawn to their all ages acid-house parties at the local Billinudgel Barn, an ecstatic hoe-down to luscious vinyl amidst the surreal Australian bush. Katharine and Ben played records at the early Splendour in the Grass Festivals before moving to Rainbow Bay, to create the freshest experience on the Gold Coast at the infamous Elsewhere Bar.

Katharine danced to Ben's legendary sets, which consistently went off every Saturday for Motion:Theory:Music, from Elsewhere's conception, for 7 years. Dhe played an early set of warm psychedelic house before Ben, and then moved between heaving dance floor and turntables for the spectacularly crazy early morning hours. No words can describe that scene either, but it's imprinted in many memories. Elsewhere won  'Best Music for a Club in Australia' at the Sydney Bar Music Awards at this time.

They are now in Melbourne, where she has dj'd for Killing Time Bar, Black Market, Quality Project, Faceless, Doesnt Matter, Revolver's Mama Said and Mi Casa. Katharine closed the Garden Stage for A Collective Future in the bush, and had everyone vibrating, elevating and connecting. She has created podcasts for Mesa Recordings from Santa Fe, Art-E from Romania podcast and next, she and Ben create for Bonjour Minimal.

Blurring the line between house and techno, their Motion:Theory parties are renowned for involving others who See:With:Their:Ears. Katharine's selections are unique, and mixing style smooth and bass driven. She will twist you new ways with her flow of astral:house. Not one to hold back, whether djing alone or with Ben, she connects the space with energy designed to spiral you up and out.

On this last episode we invited Act.Natural, they are a brand new DJ/production duo hailing from Leeds, formed through a long standing friendship and a mutual love of music. They found that both their tastes were along a similar line to one another whilst also still having very individual eclectic interests. They love everything from 90’s hip hop, to breakbeat through to disco and of course house music and everything in between.

Act.Natural’s main aim is to create and deliver music in their own unique way and to do it how they want to do it, without having to succumb to the latest trends or 'the norm.' They've been big vinyl collectors for a number of years and they love nothing more than digging through record stores to find that one gem. They are constantly surprising each other with their track selection whenever they play and practice, yet manage to maintain a vibe and a groove fit for the party that they’re playing. Simply, Act.Natural is an expression and a vision of 2 personalities that have come together to create unique and interesting music along with the ability to deliver their own sound through their DJ sets.

In March 2016, they won the coveted title of the 20/20 Vision DJ Competition and were hand picked by Ralph Lawson himself to play alongside him at the 20/20 Vision Easter Party. Off the back of this they’ve made a special guest appearance on KMAH Radio and have a string of remixes and original releases lined up for 2016.

On this new episode of Microtechno Podcast we are proud to present a session with a close friend, this time we brought you a session with one of Chile’s most talented electronic music artists, the Dj and Producer Alejandro Vivanco.    Alejandro was born in Viña del Mar, and since his early childhood, he developed an interest in music, as his father used to play tenor sax and owned a huge jazz records collection.   At the early age of 7 years, he used to spend many hours in front of the stereo.   Later, when he became a teenager, he started playing electric guitar in several school bands, influenced by the music of bands like Sonic Youth, Jesus & Mary chain and Pixies, among others.    Then In 1993, he, and three friends created the band "Pequeñas Particulas”, a cult band in the underground scene of Valparaiso where he played the bass for 7 years.  Meanwhile, around 1996 he started to have an affinity for sound experimentation, that affinity lead him to start developing a close relationship with machines, and conduced him to create his solo project called Telepong, project that had a strong influence from the sounds of Detroit and Acid House.   As he walked the path of electronic music,  he got attracted to the emerging Chilean electronic scene and made him take a step ahead to turntables.  That pavemented his career as a DJ and in 2001 earned him a residency in “Club La Feria” Chile’s battle horse Club, and where he still plays.   In terms of his music style, he define’s it in simple words as "precise rythms with radical sound contrasts and evolving rich grooves.”    In terms of his discography, Alejandro has released in some of the best  labels around, and it wouldn't be fair to mention just a few, so at this time we'll recommend you visiting his full discography at discogs (link bellow).    Alejandro is continuously working on delivering amazing music, so keep an eye on his profile as there are always new releases from his music factory, and certainly they will be available at your closest electronic music vinyl store. On this week’s episode we delight you with a vinyl only session by Berlin based dj and producer Mario Urien, as per today Mario has positioned himself as an emerging artist in the German capital . Passion, technique and experience between decks, along with an exquisite musical taste shapes this artist’s soul. Clearly influenced by the roots of Techno and House sounds from 90’s and 80′ .
During the last years, he has managed to catch the attention of Berlin’s music scene, performing in clubs and several venues such as Sisyphos, Chalet, Suicide Circus, IPSE, Ohm .    

During winter 2015 his debut album has been recorded and created entirely live with the use of hardware . The album shows his more expressive and introspective artist face thanks to artists-instrument interaction that this Dj loves. This mixture creates a sound where experimentation and tradition are mixed to create a new atmosphere in which time passes from past to future without interruption.   Enjoy!

On this episode we invited Sergei Kuznetsov, a.k.a. Microb, he is a techno and electro music lover from Vladivostok, Primorskiy region of Russia. Microb started as a DJ in the beginning of 2010 and now he’s one of the residents of the oldest Far East dance music festival 'MostRave' (Khabarovsk) and many other events like United Movement team production (Vladivostok). In his sets, he prefers atmospheric and hypnotic sounds, always influenced by his techno roots.
During the last two years he lived and performed in Italy, China, Vietnam, and Korea, where he is currently residing.

On this episode we feature Ochu Laross, born on 1991 in the former Yugoslavia. In a very early age he was getting more and more interested in electronic music. The first mixes are from the year 2003. His parents wanted him to be a musician, for his father is a musician and a music teacher. He went to music school, and played drums, but in 2007 gave it up, and decided to be a DJ. He played music at smaller parties, and his friends liked his music. One year later he got the chance to play at some music festivals. In 2009 everything changed. Ochu LaRoss got the opportunity to play at the biggest music festival of Vojvodina as a beginner DJ at the Underground Arena. He got a lot of attention after that and started having more gigs. After one month he joined the Highlight Radio, where ever since then his mixes are being played weekly. That year he was also heard on Globalparty Radio, Budapest and some other internet radios. Sometimes on private parties he would play up to 8-10 hours. In 2010 the live shows continued, and he starts to make his own tracks. He joined the Strong and Deep organization, which organizes parties like the Summer Pulse Festival. By their help, he got to play at the biggest East European music festival, the Exit. Ochu Laross likes the weird, dark music, and the after parties. A move to Berlin not long after brought yet further inspiration and immersion, and the opportunity to broaden musical horizons while exploring sound.

Felipe Venegas (@felipevenegas) >>> studied classical and theory at the conservatory in Santiago (Chile) and we're awfully glad he did since his scholarly days he's ventured into more electronic realms, retaining a rhythmic, percussive feel that we just love. But as happen most of the time his true musical education took place outside the classroom, in clubs where the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano and Dandy Jack, were creating a new culture of sound.

Felipe spent his weeks studying Beethoven, Bach and Ravel, but at the weekends he escaped to the underground electronic music scene, soaking up the spirit of techno, house and acid. Before that, he learned the essential relationship between music and movement from his dancer father, who taught him the timeless rhythms of salsa and rumba.      In a very short time, Felipe cemented a reputation as one of Chile’s finest DJs and producers, he is also the guy behind @drumma-records .

On this new episode we invited Azire, he was born and bread in London and although he sees himself more of a producer than a DJ, this artist is no stranger to the decks, he's been known to throw it down at parties leaving listeners in awe.  His connection to music, as he says, “started at the 16 when my brother had no where to keep his turntables my room was used to store them. I set the turntables up, began spinning his soulful house collection of records and thats where my interest in being a mixing really began".     With past productions being supported by the likes of East End Dubs, Chris Carrier, Primarie and many more it's clear that Azire has somewhat of a knack for making good music. On this new episode, we bring our Polish friend Piotr Fornalski .     Berlin-based Stinsøn is a DJ, records digger, event promoter and all-around music nerd who hails from Poland’s first capital city and currently based in Berlin. Interested in music ever since he can remember, his first steps behind the decks in a club setting were taken thanks to the help of the Szajse Records crew. And it was also under the collective’s careful eye that he discovered the true beauty of electronic dance music and began to forge his own style. Now, the Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian and (most of all) the Romanian scenes are what inspires him most and is generally the sound that you are most likely to hear in his sets. Although it must be said and noted that his style is tough to pigeonhole as more often than not he opts to tell a certain story, which may demand quite a bit of genre juggling.

Farid Odilbekov is an old friend of the podcast and a __talented__ producer from Russia.  He has a predilection for the minimal genera and his prolix work and unique sound have earned him a reputation in the global minimal underground.     He recently released the PCS EP on our label Moonlake Records (@moon-lake-records) featuring remixes from South American producers (Sebastian Olano and Francisco Gonzales).

This is Farid's second release on the podcast and certainly another jewel from his repertoire.    Enjoy!

This week we have a Vinyl Only episode with our Russian friend Kirill Kalashnikov aka Wyro.       Kirill started making beats back in distant 1999 while he was living in siberian city Surgut. Surrounded by snow and cold winter wind he started exploring Fast Tracker software and building his unique music style - warm and calm as summer night. His first love was atmospheric jungle and drum&bass and his first tracks were made in this exact genre but after years of musical experiments, hundreds of gigs around the world and releases on such respected d&b labels as Med School, Fokuz, Covert Operations, Formation and Blu Saphir he had successfully switched to deep Techno and House. Today his various tunes are being played by a very wide spectre of artists.You can hear his minimal tracks in sets of Raresh, Nu Zau and Janeret, his progressive deep house is played by Guy J, Mihai Popoviciu and Mark Popcke, his breakbeat and bass experiments - by Leeroy Thornhill and Justin Martin. Apart from making music Kirill is running a vinyl only label Инженер (Engineer) and working as a CEO of Tramplin.Pro electronic music school (branches in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Ekaterinburg).

On this new episode, we feature a exclusive session with only productions by our friend, the Tunisian Dj and Producer César M'hamdi aka Root, with a session that only includes his creations and productions.       Cesar found his love for music at his early years on Gafsa, his hometown, inspired by the repetitive percussion of the groovy native drummers in Tunisian streets and Sahara’s desert to which he started adding sounds from analog electronic gear.     ROOT believes that before reappearing in Detroit, Techno has been taking place in Africa, not through sophisticated electronic devices but through traditional hand made drums, native chants, and other musical instruments.   His passion is to create atmospheres out of vibes, creating a whole state of resonance through precise elements and sound generators.     So far his releases have been released on labels such as Kayf, Soblazn, Psicodelica and played by artists like Faster, VSA, Andrea Ferlin, G76 and many others. On this new episode of Microtechno Podcast we feature the Toronto based DJ, producer and label owner of Savvy Records, Kyle Yip aka Discrete. He is known not only for his Juno Award Nominated full-length album, but also his remixes for international artists such as Brabe, Society of Silence and many more.
 
An affinity for the commingling and contrasting sounds and playful experimentation inspired the birth of Savvy Records, a platform he created to fill a distinct niche for the music he loves. Since the labels conception in 2010, it has released singles and albums from such notable artists as Bram Faber, Der Amethyst, Donk Boys, Frankie, Paradroid, Phil Denton, René van Munster, S.O.S., Thomas Gwosdz, Thore Pfieffer, Xavier León, as well as his own productions. His label also hosts the Savvy Records Podcast, an excellent resource for discovering new and dynamic music for newcomers and the more seasoned electronica listeners alike.
 
Following a strong library of solo releases, 'The Midas Touch' is Kyle's first full-length solo album. Kyle Intertwined his love for jazz, disco and soul with a deep-house and techno tinged sensibility. This medley of inspirations were crucial to constructing a sound that is not only exuberant and enigmatic, but also nostalgic and thoughtful. This rare fusion has garnered Kyle a nomination for 'Best Electronic Album of the Year' at the 2016 Canadian Juno Awards in Calgary.
 
While Kyle is an active presence in Toronto's nightlife, often throwing parties for his Savvy Records label, he is equally involved with an international community of producers and musicians. His accolades from distinguished artists such as DJ Sneak, Mark E, Mousse T and Pezzner can attest to this as well as his releases on labels such as Defected Records and Get Physical Music.
 
The future holds promise for Kyle and Savvy Records. While eagerly awaiting a handful of upcoming releases for Savvy Records on the horizon — including a remix EP for 'Always No' from 'The Midas Touch' — he is also perfecting his next Discrete album, the sophomore follow up to 'The Midas Touch' LP. Amidst the sound and the fury, Kyle maintains a strong vision, with sights fixed upon a sound that can breathe beauty, communion and transcendence into us all.
