This is a remix of our second album single "http://soundcloud.com/papercutz/where-beasts-die' by the Oriental flavoured donwbeats of 'soundcloud.com/kiyokomusik'. 

'Kiyoko is a new project from Joe Mcbride (Synkro) and partner Jack Lever (Bering Strait). Joe and Jack set about writing an album purely from old analogue gear, circuit bent kids toys, live drums, guitars and samples from old vinyl and Japanese flavored soundscapes. The result is their debut LP 'Sea Of Trees' one of Auxiliary records' most adventurous releases to date. This is their very first remix!

:PAPERCUTZ - Where Beasts Die (Kiyoko Remix)

For this one I wanted to make something soft and enveloping that puts a sort of heavy relaxed feeling onto the listener, with the clicks and subtle rhythm to carry it along. A gravity well is an area of space that is warped by a large mass, looking something like a well in 2D representations hence the the name, and an area of space where you would feel the inescapable heavy pull of gravity all over your body, which was the feeling I was trying to produce with the track - For the mass I was thinking something a bit heavier than the earth, but not so heavy as to be painful. This one has a video on the way too, following the same concept, that should be ready this week!

Combining elements of electronica, folk, post-rock and alternative rock with progressive and gothic undertones, Scottish band Midas Fall have carved a distinctive and captivating sound, creating taut, shimmering soundscapes led by the hauntingly melancholic vocals of Elizabeth Heaton - a sound described as "powerful yet fragile, devastatingly beautiful and beautifully devastating" (The Founder Magazine).

Their fourth full-length album, ‘Evaporate’, will be released worldwide in 2018 on Monotreme Records. The band previewed some of their new music on a European tour in November 2017.

In September 2015 Midas Fall released their third album 'the Menagerie Inside' on Monotreme Records, followed by a month-long European tour later in the year with Canadian musician Raised by Swans. The record, mastered by legendary engineer Ed Brooks (Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, Caspian) featured nine new tracks and was released in digital, CD and limited edition vinyl formats.

2014 Saw Midas Fall complete a Balkans mini-tour and begin work on their third album.

In 2013 Midas Fall followed up their second album, 'Wilderness’, with the release of 3-track EP. ‘Fluorescent Lights’ as well as a full UK and European tour. The band shared the stage with Chvrches, Deaf Havana, Her Name is Calla and label mates Sleepmakeswaves in addition to headlining a show at the Norwich Sound and Vision festival. 

The EP showcases all of the elements that fans of Midas Fall have come to know and love: the combination of thundering melodic rock guitar with electronic flourishes and Elizabeth Heaton’s soaring melancholic vocals in ’Low’, the delicate confessional intimacy of ‘Tracks’ and the epically ascending pop of title track ‘Fluorescent Lights’

2012 saw the band perform at Switzerland's Deadline Festival, share the stage with labalmates 65daysofstatic and Reigns in London at the Monotreme Records 10th Birthday party, perform headline slots in London and Budapest, support We Were Promised Jetpacks and December will see the band support Her Name Is Calla in York, London and Leicester. 

2011 saw Midas Fall complete their first European tour, including a slot at Belgium's Dunk! Festival, sold-out shows in Athens, Sofia, Glasgow, Manchester and London, play Germany's Dark Spring Festival in addition to supporting label-mates Jeniferever and Kerrang! favourites Hawk Eyes. 2011 also saw the band secure endorsements from JHS Hornby (Fret King Guitars), Diago, DiPinto Guitars, Dava Picks and Lion Cajon Drums. 

Their debut album 'Eleven. Return and Revert' had its worldwide release with Monotreme in April 2010. Garnering numerous glowing reviews comparing them to the likes of Portishead and Explosions in the Sky.

Midas Fall have previously supported Japanese post-rockers Mono and secured a coveted sync for their track 'MovieScreens' on BBC3's Lip Service soundtrack - a soundtrack which charted in the UK's top 20 and has since been released in Canada and Australia, increasing the bands overseas following.
