This song chronicles the uncertainty and distrust in a young relationship, the feeling of betrayal in conflict with insatiable attraction. The song’s poppy verse explodes into a full-fledged four-on-the-floor chorus as the singer asks “Is it crystal or plastic?”

Dear His Mom,
I'm very sorry that your son is a sex offender. If I were you, I would be very upset as well. But yelling at the victim is simply not the answer. It wasn't the best way to greet me, you see. A letter, probably, would be a more civilized reaction. I hope I'm doing it right.

Dear His Mom, 
He has disabilities, you surely would say. He doesn't know how to handle relationships, you would say. I tell you what - you son is a very smart young man who knows right and wrong, and knows the difference between friendship and a romantic relationship, and you should know better than me about that. I'm disabled, too - your son even wrote that down in his report - and that's probably why I approached him in the first place. No, I never seduced your son. I was simply being a friend. I loved him as a friend. I loved it when he picked me up and when he kissed my forehead like a older brother. But I didn't like it at all when he crossed the line at last, and it was really, really hard for me to make the decision to report him. It's for the best of him, they said. But you probably wouldn't say that, will you?

     You've been a great mom, that's what he told me. You sold everything to come to college with him, he said. There's nothing more a son could ask for, he said. But there's still something I don't quite understand - why was it me to teach him the way friendship works, instead of you? Hopefully it wasn't you that taught him to ask girls out the first time he meets them and before knowing their names; and I had to tell him friends don't kiss, and don't shower together. No, not even when we're besties. You didn't teach him that, did you?

  The great thing about your son being on the spectrum and depending on you so much is that I know exactly what kind of person you are now. Every move of his mirrors something about your value. A conservative Christian, that's what you are. When I asked him about his ideal personality of girlfriend, the only thing he could come up with is "Christian". Should be at least five feet tall, but not more than six feet, because that's about his height; but he wouldn't be too offended if she's just a little about six feet. Preferably long hair; with or without glasses. But MUST BE CHRISTIAN. I found it a little disturbing. Also, homosexuality is just wrong, he said. He would rather be asexual than homosexual. Well that sounds like asexual is also pretty wrong. But a little better than homosexual, probably. What else? No freebies for non-citizens!! He was obviously so excited about this idea, before he realized that I'm not a US citizen at all. I kind of wish I had cut the friendship as soon as he said that to save us from this much trouble.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against god and his holy church, and I'm not saying that being a conservative Christian is a bad thing either. I've been singing church music since a long time ago and I love doing that very much even though it also made me meet your son. I don't have anything against your son either. He's probably also a victim of ignorance. And hey guess what, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. Disability is not an excuse, nor is Christianity. You failed your task of educating your son properly as a mother. And you should thank me for reporting him because now someone is going to do the thing that you didn't do. You should be very much ashamed.

      In case you're wondering, I'm doing very well now. Going to get up early tomorrow to review the report of your son's case. Probably I'll see you in the hearing?
