In a special episode, recorded at Queen's Gardens in Hull, James Frewer speaks with guest presenter, Jenni Harrison, about working as composer and musical director on 'we used to be closer than this'. 

'we used to be closer than this' was a summer cabaret, written by Natasha Brown, Angelo Irving, Tabby Lamb, Jay Mitra, RashDash, Leo Skilbeck, Kobby Taylor and Tom Wells and performed at Absolutely Cultured's Creative Hull festival, from 16-18 July 2021.

Avis - Take The Pill

MAN KILLED BY TRAIN is an EP that we never really fully planned, it just kind of came about. We've been through a lot as a band in the past year, especially with one of our members leaving. Now we're looking toward our future and how we can level everything up. These three tracks are staples of our live sets, especially 'Coke Cola Shop' and 'Spinosaurus'.
'Sweet Pea' is one of the earliest songs we wrote as a four piece that we have since shelved.

This song is inspired by mine and Endoflevelbaddie's shared hatred of this new habit that people have of filming entire live performances on their phones. 
I've paid good money to see a live act that I adore and often I've been waiting in anticipation for that show to come round too, the last thing I want to do is view it through people's phone screens or watch others fail and just drunkenly film the back of the head of the person in front of them.
I love the feeling of being present at a gig and feeling that connection between yourself and the artists on stage, I just think that getting your phone out for a long period of time is poor gig etiquette…and I’m short so that doesn’t help!
Obviously, (and hypocritically as performers) there are also positives to this, bands need footage of themselves performing live so that they can show other people that they're actually pretty good, or to capture fond memories or to post on their socials to get more gigs. The same goes for gig-goers too.
In short, I don't wanna see ya phone- I just wanna watch the band!

AFTER THE ACT - TRAILER

‘She’s Got You Now’ was written in December of 2023. 
The song narratively indulges you, by showcasing a point of view of a person who is struggling to come to terms with a failing relationship.
The woman in question (that the person is talking about) Is extremely frugal and only desires for materialistic possessions for her own personal benefit and is willing to ‘Leave a man behind’ to do so. 
The person then elaborates about their potential disdain for her as they can see a ‘White Wedding’ from the ‘Cliffs of Dover’ referring to the fact that it will be an inevitability for them no matter what. 
The person feels claustrophobic in this relationship and feels as if there is no escape.
In addition, the person doesn’t have a lot for themselves let alone to please their other half. This is hinted in the line ‘All I have is broken wings’
There is no love in this it’s all just pure stubbornness, greed and ignorance.
