This demo contains only sounds from my new Ascension patch library for Spectrasonics Omnisphere. The exception being the drums which I programmed. All the side-chain compression is actually programmed into Omnisphere's modulation wheel for most every patch in Ascension. :)

This is a remix I did for Kaskade a few years ago. Taken from their self-released album: 'The Calm', this remix feature mainly the vocals from Haley Gibby on the original track (laid atop minimal layers of organic instruments bathed in reverb and omitting any drums or tempo-based elements). In other words, this is an ambient track turned house. It ended up never getting officially released (these things happen). So it's here for you to enjoy, and I hope you do!

I wrote this song during a dark and challenging time in my life so that it would not only lift me, but shine a light in the darkness for others going through similar trials. May it bring you some semblance of peace and hope, as you press on and overcome the storms of this life.

Now that Omnisphere 2 has audio import, I thought it was high time to be the first one to utilize it exclusively for a remix of Late Night Alumni's "Runaway". So here it is, all vocals were processed and manipulated in Omnisphere 2. All drums were imported and programmed. All sounds are from the brand new Spotlight EDM sprinkled with patches I created myself.

I really love the vibe on this one. It features brand new patches just added as an update to Fire Water, including one I created special for a friend of mine named Morris Hayes (formerly of Prince and the NPG). Listen for it toward the end of the track. It's the mellow lead sound I'm playing. :)

Chillaxin'

This piece is comprised only of Keyscape sounds in my free "Darkness and Light" patch collection for Omnisphere 2. Only available until December 1st from ILIO. The song is dedicated to Eric (Diggabeatz) Leaptrot who recently experienced the  loss of his mother to cancer.  This piece of music was inspired by my many personal memories of her.  It is a journey of pain, struggle, and joy. She will be missed, until we meet again.

Darkness 'till Dawn - a Patch Demo of the ILIO Patch Bundle

Originally by Queensrÿche, this 90's classic rock balled was one that I've been trying to remake for over ten years now. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to push us creatively. The passing of my dear friend Stéphane Bonvallet to COVID19 was my motivation. Since Stéphane was instrumental in many of the synth bass patches in Spectrasonics Trilian as well as some of the Core Omnisphere sounds, I thought it fitting to only use Omnisphere for the synth sounds in this track. I told Stéphane that I was working on a remake of this tune, and I'm sorry he never got to hear it. But I know he'll be smiling next to me... :)

Michael (MIDIhead) Babbitt is a Los Angeles-based electronic music writer, remixer, producer, vocalist, and DJ. From the age of 8, he knew what he wanted to do. It was then that he first recognized music's cognitive and spiritual power, and envisioned a day where he would create it. At the age of 14 he began his musical endeavors as a DJ for a local radio station by day, and as a mobile DJ by night after finding professionals willing to train him on these crafts. By age 18 he was spinning vinyl at a popular local night club in his home town. But spinning other people's music wasn't his dream, so he fronted a band that eventually led him to perform for thousands.

Michael was awarded "Best Album of 2001" for his debut solo album "Power Undiminished" at The American Synthpop Awards in Hollywood. It was front man Kurt Harland from the 80's band Information Society who presented him with the award. After moving to Los Angeles, Michael shifted his role in music production to focus on media. His first track was heard in Fox's "Dark Angel", followed by landing a "Matrix Reloaded" movie trailer which opened up the floodgates for other television shows such as "Access Hollywood", "Dexter", "CSI" series, "America's Next Top Model", and "Prison Break", among others. His high energy remixes and original music has also been featured in Konami's popular Dance, Dance, Revolution video game series.

Michael has has recorded with artists Shane Gibson (Korn), Peter DiStefano (Porno For Pyros), and worked with Grammy nominated DJ: Kaskade, as well as Kaskade's side-project Late Night Alumni.

Michael's latest endeavors have him designing patches for Spectrasonics Omnisphere, distributed exclusively by ILIO. He has received critical acclaim for his patches by industry professionals and hit-making artists! Check out his sounds at: www.ilio.com/patches
