Spring ‘23 sees Faux Poly release the first in a series of remix compilations, 8 tracks from a different artists across multiple genres.

‘Faux Poly: Remixed 001’ marks the start of the label’s new regularly quarterly remix series, where a wide variety of producers are invited to pick anything from the label catalogue and reimagine it, making the core sounds of the label transcend their original setting and permeate through different club scenes around the world.

Highlights for FPR001 include Skudge’s unmistakable sound with Kassian’s flagship track ‘Off World Vehicles’, which has already garnered ongoing support from the likes of Ben UFO and Dixon, New Zealander newcomer Emanuel’s incredibly rowdy flip of Jay Carder’s A1 single ‘Eva’s Stoned’, and a club focussed change of tone from Demi Riquisimo, taking a left turn from his regular house influenced style with a choppy breakbeat remix of Jay Carder’s ‘So Carelessly’.

SPF 50’s Social Life EP, released in March 2023, offered refined peak sounds and atmospheric club tools that defied typical genre descriptors, and cemented him as one of the most exciting DJs and producers in New York. 

Further exploring the world conjured in Social Life, SPF 50 has invited three artists he admires greatly - Sam Goku, Davis Galvin, and James Bangura - to reimagine the EP. 

The results are stellar. Sam Goku delivers an ambient techno version of “Grove Map” with a rude acid line, Davis Galvin transforms “Body Concept” into a sub-heavy system lifter as only they can, James Bangura digs up a moody deep house groove in “Liquid USB”, and SPF 50 himself rounds out the offering with “Blind Fade”, a reworked track from the Social Life sessions replete with the deep atmosphere and understated moments he has become known for.

Creating an international name for itself the past decade as a sample pack label, Samples From Mars makes its venture into the music world as a home for founder Teddy Stuart’s original productions. Long before making samples, Stuart garnered credits working as a grammy-nominated engineer in the hip hop world, and DJing / producing with Justin Strauss as A/JUS/TED, for DFA, Domino Records, Southern Fried Records and more.  Samples From Mars plans to release a variety of genres with a vintage tinge and a focus on high quality, analog production.
 
Video Burnout is the collaboration of Adam Stegemann and Teddy Stuart, inspired by the loft parties of their youth and a love for archaic gear, they have crafted a sonic world of cinematic instrumentals, displaced by disco basslines, negative space, and chaotic IDM beats.  In 2020, Stegemann acquired a bunch of old samplers and drum machines. With no production experience he loaded up floppy disks and connected the gear, chaotically punching in drum patterns, arpeggios and basslines inspired by his fave disco records, 90s IDM, and a burning desire to impress his friend. "Stegs" filmed all of this and sent the videos to Teddy who was blown away. There was just one problem: no audio had been recorded yet.  Teddy selected his favorite videos, and over the course of many months, the two developed each track further, painstakingly re-creating and expanding upon the magic moments Stegs had captured on his phone.  After a lot of production, editing and therapy, what came out was Video Burnout's debut EP, ‘Shame Spirals’.
 
‘ Shame Spirals ‘ is a five track EP full of brooding, lo-fi instrumentals created using archaic gear and floppy disks. Inspired by the dollar-store disco records of their youth and IDM vanguards of the 90s, Stegemann and Stuart have crafted their own sonic world as Video Burnout. Merging unlikely ingredients such as cinematic synths, glitchy beats, lush soundscapes, and syncopated disco basslines, equally at home in your headphones or on the dancefloor.
