This is an edit of Chico's I Need Some Money, from South Africa circa 1986.  It's a nice edit, but jeeze, Jack & Midnight Riot, give credit where credit's due.  Especially when it's white Euro-Americans jamming on a South African track. Don't repeat colonialism, for pete's sake.

Despite us being in the depths of summer, the weather is rubbish. Hooray then, for a sunny new Midnight Riot release. Here Jack Tennis, cough, serves up a re-work of a particularly sunny Italo disco jam, "Money". He aces it too with shimmering 80s tropical synth melodies, claps galore and the genre's always endearing slightly dodgy vocals. Elsewhere the vibes are more 'authentic' with "La Funk" being a monster of thumping, rubber-bass boogie and sexy female vocals, and "Easin" being a slo-mo bloc rocker from back in the day.

Thoma Cher is the supplier of the good times via, firstly, the pure party gem that is "Holiday Holiday", on an EP that marks Cher's first solo outing on this label. "Dancer" is an uplifting track with a warped bassline that wraps itself round the sliding hi hats and loose drums as boogie synths add colour. "Be My Love" is an instantly recognisable gem with a fat bassline slowed to a sensuous pace overloaded with breathy vocals. Great stuff."
