Putting this EP together was such a great experience. I had the chance to acquaint Greg Packer and asked him to take care of a remix for me. As fucking cool as he is, he said yes. After that, I had the chance to have a few drinks with grandmaster guitarist Gabriel Covarubias and we recorded his Gibson SG. A single take, fifteen  minutes or so. A great drunken jam session. I feel the final product is delightful! And to top it all, Dave Allison's Editorial Records is releasing it.

The Boogie Down Edits crew have been busy. It's not all that long since their last outing, yet this fifth instalment in the series boasts no less than seven tried-and-tested reworks. Naturally, the standard is high throughout. Throw in an admirable desire to mix up the genres - contrast, for example, the Bollywood-goes-New York stomp of "Disco", with the talkbox-heavy Roger Troutman rearrangement of "Come With Me", and the intergalactic down-low madness of "Let's Party" - and you've got a package that bristles with highly playable fodder. While there's a bit more contemporary heaviness to the bottom end, the crew's desire to treat the original material with due respect shines through.

Boogie Down Edits #5 [Demo Mix]

This weeks Spin City saw myself and Chuggin Edits returning for another residents show. I played the first hour, packed full of forthcoming digital and vinyl releases, with a couple of older tracks from Yam Who? Rest In Peace, brother. For the second hour, Chuggin Edits plays an outstanding hour to close the show, as only he can.

I recently got to play at the long running daytime disco, funk and house event MFSB in Edinburgh and although I didn't manage to record the set live on the day I've recreated the experience here with all the tracks that I played. Hey yo! Here's my full set from my recent debut at the awesome Sunday Circles event at Muriel's in Belfast. Part of the Freebooter Lounge collective and Plan B, The Sunday Circles session is now becoming a regular hangout for heads that appreciate decent underground music and the perfect spot to chat with likeminded folks about music and life in general while listening to some beats from local talent. As I was last on I brought some funk and deep acid chuggers to the party alongside some staple favourites and a few new edits.
