For the second hour, Chuggin Edits plays an outstanding hour to close the show, as only he can.

Black Light Disco with Fingerman April 2025

I recently got to play at the long running daytime disco, funk and house event MFSB in Edinburgh and although I didn't manage to record the set live on the day I've recreated the experience here with all the tracks that I played. Big thanks to Yogi and Caroline who had me over and to everyone who showed me some love with the music I played! Hope to return there one day as it's an awesome event. Anyway enjoy!

Hey yo! Here's my full set from my recent debut at the awesome Sunday Circles event at Muriel's in Belfast. Part of the Freebooter Lounge collective and Plan B, The Sunday Circles session is now becoming a regular hangout for heads that appreciate decent underground music and the perfect spot to chat with likeminded folks about music and life in general while listening to some beats from local talent. As I was last on I brought some funk and deep acid chuggers to the party alongside some staple favourites and a few new edits. Big shout to Simon Sheldon for the invite to play, Darran P and Keith Connolly for playing some real balearic treats before me and to everyone who felt the grooves and had a shimmy! Enjoy!

Janet Jackson | When I Think Of You (Change Request ReVision)

For this ReVision, I recreated my favorite song off of my favorite album of Ms. Jackson’s. 

Written by Jackson, and her newly adopted two dads: Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Already having much success with their recent productions for SOS Band, and a host of the endless talent that Minneapolis was manufacturing at that time—such as Cherrelle and Alexander O’ Neal—this dynamite trio would go on to influence pop music immeasurable over the next three decades, as a team, and individually. 

The third single from Janet Jackson's third studio album, 1986’s Control, “When I Think of You" would be Janet Jackson’s first Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 Hit. 

At just 20 years old, she was the youngest artist since Stevie Wonder to have a Number 1 Billboard Top 100 record, which also made her and brother Michael the first two siblings to both share that accomplishment. 

This song—as well the album Control—features the very early era of Jam and Lewis adapting their Minneapolis Sound of electronic funk—developed alongside former band members, and high school mates, Morris Day, and The Purple One, Mister Jamie Starr—to Pop Music. 

The second single, “Nasty”—with its innovative phrase sampling usage and a unique timpani melody—is widely regarded as the blueprint for the birth of a genre they would ultimately godfather, New Jack Swing. 

I reimagined this song with the standard Minneapolis Orchestrations in play: pitched up LinnDrum, snappy and mid-range Oberheim DX, Moog Bass, and the new editions of early FM Synth sound with the Yamaha DX7, Roland D-50, and 1984’s Roland Super Jupiter, the MKS-80.

Janet Jackson | When I Think Of You (Change Request ReVision)

It's been a good year for Austrian scene stalwart Mannix Kling, who has supplemented his original deep and soulful house productions with disco-focused outings on Alpaca Edits. Here he invites us to "Dance All Night" via a three-track label debut for Midnight Riot. Our pick of the bunch is probably the title track, a loose and rolling, delay-laden disco-house affair that sees him build energy and impact via some serious filter trickery before unleashing sections from a bouncy, heavily orchestrated 1970s disco original. That said, many will gravitate towards the high-octane thrills of stomping, over-the-top disco-house smasher "True" (seemingly a version of a blue eyed soul/AOR disco number), while "Disco In The Sun" is another wonderfully camp, shirts-off number tailor made for beach-side parties and subterranean sweatboxes.

Mannix - True - Midnight Riot Teaser

There's no doubt that DJ Koze's "Pick Up", a monster chunk of sweeping disco-house bliss built around elements borrowed from Melba Moore's "Pick Me Up, I'll Dance" has been one of the biggest cuts of 2018. Here, Yam Who delivers his own house-friendly rework of Koze's classic as part of Midnight Riot's "Dubplate Disco" series. We'd argue that it's even better than Koze's cut, primarily because it gets to the point far quicker than the German's stretched-out epic and utilizes more chorus repetitions. Arguably even bigger is flipside "Disco Madness", a thunderous and seriously heavy disco-house re-edit of a driving Teena Marie cut that's almost worth the admission price on its own.
