Episode 91: Feel Good Friday Show (feat Brown Sauce)

This episode was a third birthday special! To mark 3 years since I first took the plunge and started doing these shows, I decided it would be nice to fill the first hour entirely with tracks from previous guest DJs. I had great fun cramming in as many tracks as I could, working up from 100 to 125 BPM over the course of the hour, with appearances from 21 previous guests as well as a cheeky new one from myself. 

I managed to bag a very special guest for the second hour, someone I’ve been trying to get on the show for a while now - Mexico’s very own Hotmood! He’s one of the most respected, talented and prolific producers in our scene, putting out a seemingly endless string of releases on all sorts of labels, but never letting the quality slip. His tracks make regular appearances on my show and I’m proud to have  released an EP on his label Discoweey.

This mix is made up entirely of his own stuff, and it’s great - loads of his trademark exotic, quirky, obscure, fruity sound and of course razor sharp production throughout. Big, big thanks to Guillermo for sending me this great mix, and big big thanks to each and every one of you who has listened to the show over the last 3 years. I really really appreciate it, and can’t wait to bring you more shows with more excellent guests soon!

We’re launching a new mix series, where we ask some of our most beloved DJ’s to add another dimension of our hotel music landscape. Our first guest is Ben Spalding.

@BenSpaldingOfficial is a highly creative DJ, Producer, Record Label Owner and the man behind PuzzleProjectsGroup - which includes @PuzzleProjectsMusic, @PuzzledParties and several other highly progressive underground brands.

A Londoner now based in Oslo, Norway, Ben has managed & performed at music events in 35 countries over the last decade including Coachella Festival in California. 

2019 proved to be a huge year for Ben as bookings for him as a solo act and @PuzzledParties shows took him on a 19-country world tour in nine months, playing sell-out shows across Europe, Asia & Australia.

While his 2020 touring schedule has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, plans are in place for mid-late 2021 which will see him go on a USA and Mexico tour followed by a return tour of Asia across Bali, Singapore, Malaysia & Hong Kong, Australia & New Zealand and a debut tour in South America and many more locations to be confirmed.

In March 2021 Ben will release the first of 4 x two-track House & Techno EP’s with the renowned Berlin-based Musician, Live act & Producer @RonaldChristoph.

Slow Mo Lounge is proud to announce their first mix for 2021 with none other than México native, Monsieur Van Pratt, and Kongisto from South Africa.

Kongisto had this to say about the latest mix: 'It was a pleasure working with such a dynamic talent like Monsieur Van Pratt. His versatility and ability to find the groove in any genre he mixes makes his music so infectious and uniquely 'Van Pratt'. He's definitely one of the most dynamic 'slow mo' DJs I've ever heard (what a beautiful collab).'   

Monsieur Van Pratt is a rising star in the nu-disco and editorial scene. As an independent music producer from México, Van Pratt is also a self-taught musician, using the discipline to not only produce but as a DJ, mix mid-seventies disco, deep house music, and anything with a soulful groove. 

His discography includes works with well-known artists like TK Disco, Thieves Like Us, Mike Simonetti, Jupiter, Rodion, Fabrizio Mamarella, Moon Runner, La Royale, and André VII (to name a few). 

Monsieur Van Pratt's production credits include Slightly Transformed, Masterworks Music, Tropical Disco Records, Hot Digits Music, and Discoholics Anonymous (to name a few).
