Fingerman & Chewy Rubs Dog Disco Afternoon March 2025 Part 2

KILLER BOOGIE is back on the My House Radio airwaves - and like a mad March hare, DeGama is hopping between past and present for this month’s musical extravaganza! 

DeGama has not only taken a deep dive into the memory crates for this one, he’s also got some new grooves and some brand new stuff to create this ‘Past and Present’ journey though time and sonic space; paying homage to recently departed icons such as Roy Ayers, Angie Stone, and Gwen McCrae. ABOUT JAY LEE
UK based Jay Lee has a mission, to build a vibe that blends nostalgia with modern energy and bring the groove of classic disco to the modern dancefloor. Showing his love and respect for the original funky and soulful sounds of the '70s and '80s combined with current reworks and edits of the genres.

He's one-third of the emerging DJ collective Daydream Disco who are making waves across London, UK in venues such as Up on The Roof at POW Brixton, cafe1001 and also hosting a stage last year at the ever popular Brixton Disco Festival alongside Norman Jay and Marcia Carr.  

Jay has also had the pleasure of DJing with established and respected industry names such as Michael Gray, Dave Lee, LEV, Groove Assassin, plus many more.

It’s DeGama for the whole two hour show again this month and another ‘Past and Present’ themed set celebrating the genius of icons and legends from the past and showcasing some of the best producers and artists currently plying their trade on the scene. I recently got to play at the long running daytime disco, funk and house event MFSB in Edinburgh and although I didn't manage to record the set live on the day I've recreated the experience here with all the tracks that I played. Review

Since his last outing on Midnight Riot in April 2015, Ziggy Phunk has become a man in demand. This return to Yam Who's label follows inspired edit outings on Rare Wiri, Masterworks Music and Editorial. Happily, the three reworks served up here are genuine scorchers, too. He begins with the heavily dubbed-out disco-funk swirl of "C'mon C'mon", where selected vocal passages seemingly tease dancers to lose their inhibitions in time with the Clavinet-driven groove and wavy synth solos. "Disco In The Night" employs some disco-house trickery (think filtered breakdowns and judicious use of echo) on route to smile-inducing peak-time pastures, while "Game of Love" slaps on a Jheri curl wig and reaches for the '80s electrofunk synths with impressive results.
