“Askya” is the opening track from 8 by Laxá & Heima Kvartett — a post-rock collective blending Icelandic string quartet textures with guitar, bass, drums, and organ.

Inspired by the volcanic landscape of Askja in Iceland’s highlands, this piece is dedicated to guitarist Jussi Siglarson. The composition unfolds in three movements:

I. Pizzicato strings and guitar introduce the volcanic landscape.

II. Contemplative layers of bass and strings lead into Jussi’s gentle guitar theme.

III. A reggae-inspired bassline and plucked strings drive urgency before the quartet returns, lifting the track to a cinematic close.

For fans of Sigur Rós, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Balmorhea, Explosions in the Sky, Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds.

Well I guess I gotta start out by saying yes I knoooow the song might not be suuuper lofi-ish as a whole, but I feel like it's close enough, right?... Maybe? It's probably closer to some other genre that I don't know the name of lol. After all, it's probably not as relaxing as the typical lofi track, but oh well. This one was actually inspired by the soundtrack of the Suspiria 2018 remake composed by Tom Yorke. The whole movie had some eerie yet somber music that reminds me of many of Silent Hill's OSTs so I did my best to capture those feelings.

Hope y'all are ready for a new OneShot remix! With all these Undertale remixes that I'm making, I'm still trying to make sure I get a few remixes from other games out as well. I also figured, why not celebrate the spring solstice, as well as the three year anniversary of the Solstice update with a Oneshot thing. Albeit, I'm a little late to both, but I gotta stick to that saturday upload schedule. Anyway, try to stay safe amidst all the craziness going on lately. Make sure to keep clean and have an extra large personal space bubble for the time being. Hope this remix might help brighten up your day!
