Birmingham duo RUZE have hurtled out of the starting blocks with a slew of quality productions and infectious grooves for labels such as PIV, Elrow, Abode, Etiquette and Rawsome, and their second release of 2022 lands on Ben Rau’s irrepressible META imprint.

The ‘Four Play’ EP finds the pair in fine fettle, delivering three contagious cuts that flaunts the  signature RUZE house sound that’s been receiving support from DJs like Prunk, Chris Stussy, Toman, Josh Butler, Franky Rizardo, Archie Hamilton and many more.

Lead track ‘Four Play’ is boats an undeniably funky bassline that bends around shiny and skippy drums, dropping a lyrically astute vocal and funk stabs for maximum effect.  The musicality of RUZE’s productions continues to shine on ‘Body & Mind’, as another killer b-line is deployed alongside deft piano refrains and New Jersey garage vibes!  ‘Game’ concludes this bustling EP with another serious slab of intoxicating house music.

Having surged into the spotlight early with music dropping via The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin’ Headz through to Classic Music Company, Jaden Thompson continues to showcase precisely why he’s one of the UK’s brightest talents. Now an established name, the fabric resident and Beatport NEXT ‘Class of 2022’ artist is stepping into the next stage of his career, collaborating with Seth Troxler for the duo’s ‘Talking Walls’ project while making his long-awaited DC10 debut and settling into his new role as a label boss. Launched in late 2021 via his huge single ‘Move Your Body’, Midnight Parade welcomes a new chapter for the Manchester-based talent and a platform for his own musical explorations alongside like-minded artists. Unveiling the imprint’s sophomore release, Thompson reunites with Miami-based vocalist Aaron Pfeiffer - the voice of previous Essential New Tune selection and stand-out single ‘Closer’ - for their first full studio collaboration as the pair deliver the vibrant sonics of ‘Something Else’.

Fusing a carefully balanced medley of hazy chords, crisp drums and expansive melodies alongside Pfeiffer’s delicate yet captivating vocals, ‘Something Else’ is an exemplary slice of modern house with subtle nods to Chicago and New York - with Thompson once again displaying his distinctive and now-signature take on the genre effortlessly.

Luuk van Dijk has unveiled his hotly-anticipated debut album First Contact, out 11th November on his own Dark Side Of The Sun label.

The Dutch DJ and producer’s maiden LP is the end result of a long and intense voyage of discovery. Years in the making, it’s a project that Luuk can fully stand behind and be proud of. Next to a search for his own identity and his own place in music, it has also become a passage through time.

By far his largest body of work to date, the 13-track release kicks off with the suitably-titled ‘Cosmiq’, a deep, grooving sonic exploration that immediately sets the tone. “Because of this
track I wanted to make an album to showcase my other kind of music that people won’t maybe expect of me,” Luuk explains.

Next up is the shimmering, ethereal sounds of ‘Love You’, a track that features the irresistible vocals of US singer-songwriter Dawn Richard and will be released as a single in October. “She really brought this track to a whole new level,” says Luuk. “I couldn’t be more happy with the result.”

Further collaborations come in the form of ‘Wolf’, a majestic, strings-led house cut featuring Steve Burton of oneofmanysteves; ‘Master Plug’, a deep, jackin’ number with Chicago artist Kid Enigma; and the Detroit-indebted ‘Together We Rise’, punctuated by the spiritual vocals of MC Roga. “I tried making a track the way they used to make music,” Luuk says of the latter. “With as few machines as possible, just a mixer, sampler and some synths.”

Additional highlights include the enchanting ‘Let The Bass Kick’, orchestral ‘Lightning Striking’ and hypnotic ‘Hot Stuff’, before ‘Knowing How To Love’ closes things out on a peculiarly wistful note. “The last track of the album, also a track that started as an interlude and ended up being a full song,” says Luuk. "This song basically sums up how I’ve been feeling the years 2020 and 2021, very emotional, sad, but also hopeful. Everything will be alright."

One of the hottest new names coming out of Amsterdam’s bustling club scene, Luuk van Dijk is currently making waves in international waters with his infectious take on spirited house music. He has already released on labels like Hot Creations, Cuttin’ Headz, Solid Grooves Records and Eastenderz have established his name as a house music prodigy. He launched Dark Side Of The Sun in 2020 with the aim of exploring a broader approach to his signature style.

First Contact represents a vivid sonic snapshot of one of electronic music’s brightest young talents.

TB Premiere: Jansons - Nite Life (Jaden Thompson Remix) [PIV]

The second instalment welcomes contributions from both sides of the Atlantic, as styles from London and Los Angeles join. Jaden Thompson's remix of 'Wolf' is a typically slick and sharp effort, harnessing the vocals and bringing a no-nonsense groove to proceedings to deliver a remix set to lock crowds in a groove. 'Jaden has been a friend of mine for some years now, and sharing the stage with him always is a pleasure. He made a very interesting remix of 'Wolf', and hearing the vocals on a stomping beat like this works like a charm.'
 
Wrapping things up, Liquid Earth journeys down a funk-fuelled pathway as he gives 'Master Plug' a fresh lease of life, combining crisp percussion arrangements with resonant bass licks and spiralling acid-tinged leads effortlessly. 'I've been following Liquid Earth for some years now and rinsing everything that he has released. He set a really different tone with his remix of 'Master Plug' and made something very special of it.'
