George Morel broke new ground with his iconic track ‚Let’s Groove’ – defining a genre and a moment with his sound – a feat achieved by only a precious few. 
That was in 1992 – when techno & house was the new kid on the block. Now, 21 (!) years later we revisit this colossal track and fit it with some remixes, including one from the man himself.   Tom Trago, Claptone, Coyu and DJ T. and PBR Streetgang all take on the dinosaur and give it a new breath of life in 2013. 
The results are amazing, and even more so when we reflect on all that came between. An entire lifetime of music and celebration lead up to this point, and will continue long after – after all, it is the spirit of the music which never really dies.

Ever since the German producer known as Claptone got his start just a year ago, he has been awarded artist of the year on the German Trendcharts DCC 2012, and has held his spot on Beatport’s Top 10 Tracks in the deep house category. There’s a lot of amazing things aligning here with this premiere.  First off, it’s new material from Klaxons. This alone is momentous as they were essentially one of the first acts to really take off in blog culture almost 10 years ago and have even had trends based on them in the UK.  Basically, they broke the internet before there was such a thing.  Second, there are some serious names affiliated with this new material that’s supposed to be presented as a new album in the Spring.  The album appears to be steered in some part by Tom Rowlands (1/2 of the Chemical Brothers…HELLO) and the one and only James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA Records).  These facts alone have me geeked as they are two of my bigger influences in all of dance music.  Third, this premiere.  Word is Gorgon City produced the original and Claptone, who’s been on fire in the disco house realm for some time, took this to the deep house stratosphere.  So essentially this whole project seems crazy and I’m officially now on pins and needles waiting for more to drop.

From bedroom setups to street recordings to highend studios, spanning melancholic folk, electro pop and apocalyptic R&B, ‘Midtown’ is the culmination of years JAW has spent connecting with likeminded artists, challenging himself to use his unmistakable voice in different ways. Placing the emphasis on having fun, whether the music be dark and obtuse, or upbeat and flamboyant, the result is nineteen different recording spaces with nineteen different textures, ensuring that no two moments on ‘Midtown’ feel the same.

o As the vocalist for madcap house wayfarers dOP, Jonathan Illel has seduced the hearts and minds of dancefloor dwellers, holding them captive with his voice as he douses them in vodka. o+o From selling popcorn at Euro Disney to manning a sex shop, grafting in a kitchen to fronting a hotel reception, JAW has served his time in unforgiving jobs and unsociable hours. So when a fearsome touring schedule first emerged in 2007, JAW relished the opportunity to hone his skills and pushed naturally to work hard.

o+o+ With ‘Midtown’ he intends to make the perfect introductory statement, identifying himself in every shade of music and to give listeners the full picture. Forcing producers to go outside their comfort zone to meet his musical vision, whilst adopting a unique singing style for each track, JAW has sought to craft the ultimate collection of music to represent who he is. Claptone steps out of the shadows once again with ‘The Music Got Me’, an exciting new offering from the mysterious enigma with the golden mask. 'Music Got Me' by Claptone is an authorised cover version of 'Music Got Me' by Visual which has been approved and licensed by Unidisc the rights holder.
As you would expect of new Claptone, 'The Music Got Me’ is destined for late nights and packed clubs all over, such are the enchanting powers of this otherworldly beast. However this new offering goes further still. The achingly cool 80s NYC disco/postpunk flavour combines with a distinct Chicago bassline to offer an exciting glimpse of the eclectic, indie vibe of his debut artist album.

Claptone’s last two releases ‘No Eyes’ and ‘Ghost’ both topped the Beatport charts, the latter of which featured Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (a collaboration we can only assume was arranged by some sort of séance). They went on to become enormous smashes on Berlin house label Exploited, earning the plaudits of the biggest DJs and setting Claptone off on a non-stop DJ tour across the globe.

It’s remarkable that the masked man has still found time in his tour schedule to deliver big remixes for the likes of Metronomy, The Pet Shop Boys, Rüfüs, Klaxons and Gregory Porter (which is currently No.1 in Beatport's Deep House charts).

2015 will also see Claptone embark on a run of ‘Immortal Live’ dates, a unique A/V experience which brings together a full set of Claptone creations (MIAMI ULTRA FESTIVAL – 29/3, BRUSSELS PIAS NITES – 4/4, GERMANY MELT! FESTIVAL 17/7, LONDON SW4 FESTIVAL – 29/8).
