Well well well, youve reached the end.

This song is also quite old dating back before the album had even started but fitting very snuggly into the theme of electronic music and synthwave antics. I used the Artisans song from Spyro as a guide for structure which made the song very plucky but also a tad short. I also got to use a Sax sample for the first time which was a ton of fun albeit a little difficult. It really also made the song very kooky and cheery so I ran with it and took the already pretty thicc chords I built and threw a very gentle and puffy synth on them making it even happier. The track takes a final turn building more chords and adding more synths on a really sweet sounding musical phrase. Finally I took my favorite wailing high pitched synth, the LD Theme Init 2 from Nexus sing it into a fadeout giving it a very end credits kind of feeling to the ridiculous adventure you just took in this album. The songs working title for quite some time was just "End Credits"

Happiest Day

Believe it or not this song is 4 years old. I started writing it in June of 2018, my first year of college and let me tell you that is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because this was born in an era that I was just throwing any creative idea no matter how weird or possibly unpalatable or inaccessible it was and you can create this sickest and gnarliest fucking things out of pure creativity like that but holy shit I could not stop writing myself into corners because the material is just so bizarre. It was insanely hard to connect all of these ideas together with the tools 18 year old me set so I really had to pull out all of the stops. I has a Distorted Reality loop that creates this very underwater sewerish kind of vibe so I threw on a drum fill to assist it and it gave it this jerky and janky vibe which I really like especially when I busted out that Yam snare. The Yam can have such a crisp and sharp sound and I think it works really well in tandem with the hard rock sections of the song. I'd say the only thing I was uncertain about was the mix. Its very intricate and loud so for some this maybe a bit much but I love it its one of my favorites on the album especially the end.

So this started out as fun project for someone but as time passed and I became more distracted and the person didnt need the song anymore it became this beast all on its own. When I had first cracked open Kontakt the first couple of times I found this PHAT ass beat that really gave me jungle vibes paired with a split second of a bass line that I heard in an Andrew Huang video. These two things all on their own spawned this really quirky, somewhat training montage-esque song. I had found blending these different bass textures with different instruments. Then I got inspired by said phat beat and it reminded me a lot of Spyro 2 and its use of Distorted Reality so I used some of those loops on there couple with other various Stewart Copeland/Spyro like percussion which only made the beat even phatter. I capped this all off with some fun improv with some synths and keys.

This song was created in the flurry of inspiration birthed by Komplete Start and my deep nostalgia for 2000's mainstream music mostly being Hip Hop and R&B. This music is probably some of the first music I heard in my life just sitting around watching my sisters consume media that I was only just then becoming old enough to understand so it's very nostalgic for me and while searching through Komplete Kontrol I found the percussion for the song and it instantly reminded me of that 2000's Hip Hop and R&B so I wanted to combine my synth style with the hip hop because to my knowledge those 2 styles aren't combined very often so I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and give my take on what that would sound like especially because its still what I make as for all the crazy synth stuff but its different enough for me that im still pushing my comfort zone in an interesting way. As for the name, 2000 is the inspired time period and the name "Starship 2000" itself is the name of a UFO themed amusement park ride also from my childhood which ties into the whole space thing for this album.

The 3 or so months that were the precursor to this songs creation were hell on Earth for me. Just anything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong. It was easily the 2nd hardest year of my life. But, many months ago I started writing this song and it was extremely cheery and I was really making a ton of progress and then I hit a brick wall creatively and it sat untouched, and I was so upset these past few months I couldnt bring myself to finish it and I almost got tired of working on it and I just wanted it to fucking be done already. But today I got the motivation to pull it together just a little bit and finish it off especially near the end of the song which is EXTREMELY cheery like it'll give you a cavity its so sweet and it really cheered me up and kind of reminded me that even though my depression is in full force right now, it doesnt have to be like that forever. Its temporary and The Sun Will Come Back. And that things will get better eventually. I dont know when or how but eventually things will get better, they wont be how they used to be and thats a shame but it will get better EVENTUALLY. And you can be happy again. At least for a little while. I dunno, thats what I took away from it.

This song uses a percussion sequence in Nexus that I never explored and really added to the synthwave-ish feeling to it. I used a bass ive never used before and paired it with what I believe to be a mandolin and but a TON of chorus giving it a really warbly feeling to kinda add to the magical and otherworldliness of it. Then I added some BIG FAT chord progressions to get the maximum amount of emotional response from a listener especially near the end and then capped it all off with a teeny bit of glockenspiel to give it some twinkle.

The world is a seriously ridiculous place right now. Socially and environmentally. Please spread the love because we need it now more than ever.

This was HEAVILY inspired by Andrew Huang's "Yours" and it really got me in a synthwave mood so I set out to make something generically synthwave and in an effort to capture the nostalgia that synthwave creates, I overshot and created something that had a lot more longing/yearning and uncertainty which reminded me a lot of the state of the world at the moment especially in the middle and end. I was still messing around with Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol also introduced to me again through Andrew. I also threw a little homage to a song from Transformers: The Game of the PS2 but I doubt anyone will recognize or really care about it lol. I also used 808's for the first time in this.

A Timeline In Danger

Holy jeez this has been a long time coming. Shaad slept over and we got to tinkering in FL Studio like we always do and he got down a basic chord progression and melody built up to the first musical phrase, a day passes and he goes home leaving me to build on the ground work he laid out like what we did for Twins Of The City but jesus christ this took such a long time to finish and it didnt get finished until I got Native Instruments "Komplete Start" for free to give me a huge boost in motivation and inspiration and its from there that I got the drums from this song. Shaad left me a really cool chord progression and melody too work with I just needed to be in a good space to act on it. The song itself has a very mid tier energy level, not too fast not too slow, but still chill and stimulating and mysterious. I had fun working with Shaad as always.

Strange Journey (feat. Rashaad Justice)

I really just kinda whipped this up out of nowhere one day not expecting a song to come out of it and it quickly turned into a really kooky and quirky piece of music and it reminded me a lot of mice and the original title was going to be "Rat Race" but I wanted to personify the subject of rats more so I did what I did with The Armada and make the song about a group of space travelers. The Armada was aliens so this became a group of space rats.

Continuing my quest to create more synthwavy electronicish music, I found an electric drum kit I had never used and combined that with an EDM kick and then found a Nexus sequence preset that sounded very techno, then I found a Sytrus present that just screams aliens and it was history from there. I was going for an alien invasion space battle kind of feel and a lot of this heavily inspired by Invader Zim with its campy but somewhat sinister nature. I also used a metric fuck ton of guitars in this song more the I usually ever do because I dont have a lot of them and they can be really difficult to write for but I used elements of heavy metal with the crazy power chords to add some more hype and suspense to the sinister feeling. Its a lot of fun I actually haven't had that much fun writing a song in a while.

This song is a dedication for my best friend, it reminds me a lot of them. Something about the high energy country rodeo vibe just makes me think of them.

I used a loop for the drums and split it up with Slicex to make pseudo fills. Lots of slap bass and more unique transitions and instruments, like this was the first time I ever use a banjo. Its good to know I can make a song last up to 4 minutes when just a year ago I couldnt get past 2 minutes. I dont know why I leaned so heavy on the rodeo country feeling so much it just kinda happened but its a welcome change because I dont often get to successfully try new genres like this and I for sure didnt think I had the ability to write something that could be considered "country synthwave".

Cosmo's Space Rodeo

This is my new favorite song that Ive ever written and thats saying a lot because I REALLY love Ancient Mystery but as much as I love it this song is composed better and has more going on. This is the first attempt to use a more developed song structure and also using solely electronic instruments, mainly synths. There are zero traditional instruments to be found. There are more song sections and more complex writing in general and this the first time since Ancient Mystery where I felt VERY attached to a song. Most of it was done in Sytrus and Nexus and I even busted out the good ol Yam snare that I used to use back in the Synth Kid days.

So this is a total blast from the past. This game came out in like the 2000's  and I used to play it all the time. The song itself is a 20 second loop. It loops on and on so I basically recreated the song from the ground up. My recreation adds each instrument in every 2 bars to extend the song a little bit. Im really happy with the way this came out. Also this gave me a good reason to use the "Angelic Whistle" instrument in Sytrus since the sound of the main melody. It sounds like an ocarina and Ive been trying to find an excuse to use it.

I like this song so I said why not. Rip X. I dont agree with some of the stuff he did but I do agree with others and no one deserves to have their life taken away from them so, yeah I guess this is a tribute. He was apart of music and this is a music channel and I enjoy a small portion of his work so why not.

Moonlight (XXXTentacion Piano Cover)

This song has been sitting in my project folder for about a month now with just a few notes in the form of a bass line that I threw together in a rush before I lost my idea and it turns I came up with something incredibly funky with the drums and bass just really kicking a lot of ass because they compliment each other and I even used an instrument from Spyro. I also wanted this to have the same really powerful feeling as Midnight Stomp so I used some of the same instruments. Midnight Stomp is faster and has more swing while this focuses more on funk. Really proud of this one.

Someone suggested RPGish store music but it quickly became really REALLY super epic with lots of guitars and heavy metal with this now taking the lead for most ambitious thing Ive ever written. There is no actual percussion its all Distorted Reality and Liquichem loops and a lot more like improvisation but I kinda had to sacrifice the overall length of the song to keep the flow. Also "mizo" in Japanese means groove. Id like to imagine that Inner City Powerlines takes place in Mizo City. Also new fonts!
