Nu:Tone is a name that instinctively populates in a seasoned drum & bass brain upon hearing the words Hospital Records. With five solo studio albums to boast, as well as a wealth of singles and EPs, Nu:Tone’s tracks can always be heard across dancefloors and throughout the festival circuit. Since joining the Hospital Records A&R team and setting up his own mixing and mastering business his ‘own music took a bit of a backseat’. It’s been six long years since Nu:Tone’s seminal ‘Future History’ album in 2014 and now Hospital is thrilled to present the creative mastery that is ‘Little Spaces’.

Ever the tastemaker, Nu:Tone has been at the forefront of guiding and bringing through the next generation of artists, particularly focused on collaborating with new and previously unheard vocalists in drum & bass, placing them at the heart of the songwriting process which is beautifully demonstrated on ‘Little Spaces’. Embodying his classic sound and drawing influence from the iconic Korg M1 synth, One Day At A Time features stunning harmonies from Lalin St. Juste, based out of the San Francisco Bay Area where she also heads up the genre-bending six-piece band The Seshen. Nu:Tones’ long-standing collaborative relationship with Lea Lea has been refreshed, with two features on the album on ‘Instincts’ and ‘The Moment’.

‘Jonas’ brings old-school flavours into 2021 with a slick introduction infused with half-time breaks, before cutting to the chase as some of the most meticulously crafted drums and a killer bassline take centre stage.

Hazy arpeggios and twinkling chimes set the scene on ‘Sleepwalker’ which sees two liquid drum & bass legends join forces. Pairing up with Charlotte Haining who delivers her signature anthemic vocal style, skippy breaks and pressing bass lays the foundation for a truly remarkable collaboration of two highly esteemed artists.

‘Instincts (feat. Lea Lea)’ sees soulful synth stabs from the off, a clear nod to Nu:Tone’s love for house music, before Lea Lea injects sinister amounts of groove with her commendable vocal abilities. Expect stripped back dexterity in signature Nu:Tone fashion, this one means business.

A mainstay of Hospital Records since 2003, Nu:Tone’s contribution to both the label and the wider drum & bass has been highly commendable. From his debut album ‘Brave Nu World’ in 2005 to new-wave anthems such as ‘Everlasting Days (feat. Lifford)’ produced alongside his brother and fellow label legend Logistics, and remixes for the likes of Adele, Emeli Sande and Plan B, Nu:Tone’s music has welcomed support from an array of legends like LTJ Bukem, Annie Mac, Andy C, High Contrast, Sigma, Sub Focus, Norman Jay, Marcus Intalex, Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, and Laurent Garnier to name but a few.

Nu:Tone - The Moment (feat. Lea Lea)

Luca C & Brigante make a welcomed first appearance on the unstoppable Hot Creations as they team up once again with the esteemed Róisín Murphy, after their
massive ‘Flash Of Light’ collaboration released back in 2012.
Having had a break to work on their solo projects, here the duo conjure up one of their best releases to date. ‘Invisions’ is a wholly refreshing Italo House dream with old school melodic synths riding under Róisín’s seamless vocal. The release also features a ‘Club Version’ adding warm, rounded chimes and an infectious bassline. Hot Creations boss Jamie Jones delivers his ‘Submerged Remix’, deep and dark, destined for the earlier hours of the morning. The highly respected Luke Solomon also makes his first appearance on the label, rounding off the package with his ‘Body Dub’ version, directed straight at the dancefloor with a prominent hypnotic loop, driving hats and a distinctive, abstract melody.

In 2016 we grew our high-energy club night into a true drum & bass celebration, Hospitality In The Park. The 10,000 strong party drew together DJs, fans, listeners, singers, live acts and MCs together to showcase every shade and style encompassing a 174 heartbeat. Following the 360-degree drum & bass experience that is ‘Waveforms’, Logistics continues his three-part EP series, linking the sounds of past, present and future on the ‘Headspace’ EP. With seven solo albums, six EPs and several collaborative releases under his belt, Logistics is one of Hospital Records’ most prolific artists. He’s joined by the lyrical extraordinaire Inja and the vocal stylings of family mainstay Thomas Oliver.

Opening this four-track EP is ‘Stay True’, a sublime dose of rolling liquid with the workings of New Zealand’s singer/songwriter Thomas Oliver. Atmospheric pads, nimble organ work and graceful harmonies come together for an elegant dose of Logistics’ drum & bass mastery.

Following a path of deeper liquid is ‘Rebuild’ with its low rumbling frequencies and super sharp sonics, topped with layers of mysterious atmospherics. On a darker tangent is the title track, ‘Headspace’, rolling and hypnotic, it’s a testament of Logistics’ long-standing ability to carve out timeless, melodic grooves.

Switching up the vibe is ‘Brand New Beginning’ featuring the enigmatic Inja. Setting the tone with tranquil hip-hop beats, this nod to Inja’s history outside of drum & bass transitions into an upbeat number, beaming with Inja’s trademark positivity.

As one of the most renowned artists in drum & bass, Logistics’ reputation is far-reaching with regular presence across major radio airwaves with support from the likes of the BBC’s Annie Mac, Rene LaVice and Mary Anne Hobbs. He can be found at festivals and events worldwide in 2020 including a main stage set at the forthcoming London D+B takeover, Hospitality Returns To The Dock.
