'Simplemental' is a brand new single by Pancho Piedra (@panchopiedra), one of the key figures and most experienced players on the Ecuadorian electronic music scene with years of DJing (incl. performing at Ecuador's first Boiler Room event), producing music (2018's collaborative track with Nicola Cruz among other things) and working as a promoter (founding the Tripy Tripy Fest which has been bringing international acts to Ecuador for the past 15+ years) to his name.

Fresh off the release of his song in one of the Multi Culti's compilations at the end of 2021, this time Pancho comes up with 'Simplemental' - a somewhat twisted and industrial take on reggaeton that is then reinterpreted by two of his compatriots which makes the whole thing a purely Ecuadorian affair (hence the references to Ecuadorian flag in the artwork). The remixes couldn't have been more different though. While Quixosis' (@quixosis) rework brings a dreamy dancehall vibe, Mala Fama's (@malafamaec) long intro bursts out with a thumping bass that is later accompanied by cumbia elements.

From the southern of the Andean mountains in Ecuador, comes to Duro, Pancho Piedra with 'Chico Sol'. A reverie, tight and deep EP of three original tracks, accompanied by a mind-blowing remix by New Zealander, Eden Burns.

The EP kicks off with "Canal 3", a thick mix with deep house influences, solid and pleasant sounds. The result of a full body psilocybinic massage and a blender of sounds... we know you've heard the voices too. It's followed by "Chico Sol'' a shower of melting and stunning bamboo, playful percussions, liquefying synths and heartbreaking acid sounds.

An electronic bass and a clap welcome you to the last original cut, "Uno Mismo". A trip along with a swinging synth and percussions shimmering like beautifully distorted diamonds. Finally comes Eden Burns with his version of "Chico Sol", a solid, hallucinating, powerful and percussive cut. A rhythmic and psychedelic expedition, synthesizers that hit you like the rays of the sun rising at dawn in the club.

The "Muy Duro" series returns this summer with the twelfth edition of the compilation. This time, the artists involved are Yotam Russo, Rina feat. Julyjuli, Theus Mago collaborating with Dominik Marz, Alvaro Cabana, and Ali X.

The compilation splendidly begins with “Lift Him Up” by Israeli artist Yotam Russo, who brilliantly combines a rhythmic section that invites you to feel the summer energy along with pianos, acid melodies, and gospel vocals. Following is the collaboration between Rina and Julyjuli, a psychedelic and immersive track with a captivating and deep bass, accompanied by electrifying synthesizers that plunge you into a trance while the voice resonates like a lost mantra.

“Bring The Feedback,” produced by Theus Mago in collaboration with Dominik Marz, is a house-oriented track that hooks you from the very first moment with its acid and elastic sounds and rhythmic elements. Spanish artist Álvaro Cabana returns to “Muy Duro” compilation with “Integración,” a track that progressively takes you through surrealistic rhythms, creating a hypnotic and lysergic sound.

Closing the compilation is “Choola” by Ali X, a track with deep and resonant basses that mixes different melodic, percussive, and vocal elements, creating a mind-blowing and accelerated atmosphere.

“Muy Duro Vol. 12” will be available on all digital platforms starting July 26, 2024.
