Dirty Epic presents its seventh episode of the Amplify Series podcasts, this time welcoming @radioslave aboard.

Matt Edwards is a bonafide powerhouse of underground dance music. Over the course of more than fifteen years, the Berlin based artist has established himself as a leading A&R, influential producer and esteemed DJ, all with his own unique and immediately recognisable style. In that time, Radio Slave has emerged as his most celebrated alias. It has seen him evolve from remixing pop tunes into someone with a distinctive musical identity that focusses on high pressure, slow release sounds that cannot fail to lock you in.
That famously loopy and hypnotic brand of house and techno is built on a solid bed of kicks and often interlaced with hypnotic vocals. It has taken him to high profile DJ sets everywhere from Fabric to Womb to Cocoon, as well as being a regular at Berghain and Panorama Bar where he has hosted his own Rekids label parties since 2007.
Ten years later came a first ever Radio Slave album, Feel The Same. It was a stylistically broad affair that made the most of the album format to show off all the different facets of Edwards’ musical personality. Across thirteen productions it touched on grinding and strobe-lit rave cuts, deeper, stripped-back headfucks, slick electro jams, mid-tempo jungle breaks and tripped-out house efforts. All of these sounds and more feature in one of his DJ sets, which are absorbing, heavily layered things that pull you in over and over again.
In 2017, Edwards’ Rekids label hit its 100th release with a special EP from Matt that featured two typically monstrous and club-slaying tracks in ‘Another Club’/‘Feel The Same.’  These follow on from modern classics like ‘Grindhouse,’ ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’ and ‘Bell Clap Dance’, which were ubiquitous club hits that solidified Radio Slave’s long form and absorbing production style. But of course, the label has not only been the outlet for Edwards’ own work: it is also a place that he has proven his rare knack for A&R time and time again thanks to signing now internationally celebrated talents like Nina Kraviz and Mr G.
Alongside all this, Edwards—who is still a hapless musical fanboy at heart—has established plenty of other projects, most notably Quiet Village with Joel Martin. Focussed on downtempo sounds infused with elements of ambient, dub and synth music, it recently spawned a much-loved remix of Agnes Obell and promises a new album in 2018. It is sure to reflect yet another side of Edwards’ expansive sound world that also takes in major label remix work for the likes of Kylie, Paul McCartney and Elton John, as well as underground favourites like Dinky, Scuba and Aphrohead.
Whether making, playing or A&Ring music, Edwards always disregards the zeitgeist. For that reason he remains a timeless talent who sets his own essential agenda.

• Bio:
Born in the 1970's in southwest Detroit, he grew up in the Hispanic district heavily influenced by his cultural latin rhythms and percussion. Encouraged from an early age by his musician father, he pursued his own interest in music and became well known and respected within the community. It was later when he heard Jeff Mills as "The Wizard" that he discovered the innovative sounds of techno. Through a mutual friend he was introduced to "Mad" Mike Banks and promptly became a member of the enigmatic Underground Resistance crew.

Soon his first opportunity came to cross the Atlantic and his speedy proficiency on the turntables wowed audiences worldwide earning him respect and notoriety within the industry as a whole. 'Knights of The Jaguar' although not Rolando's first release on UR turned perceptions of techno on their head, breaking into other genres of dance music and becoming a classic in the boxes of most DJs. Later, he and Gerald Mitchell created the label 'Los Hermanos' ('The Brothers' in Spanish). In January 2005, citing creative differences and a chance to progress, Rolando left both Underground Resistance and the Los Hermanos project. In 2014 Rolando launched his own label R3 (Roland Rocha Records) and will exclusively release his own music there.

Rolando, now a DJ for more than thirty years, continues to play internationally with a residency at the notorious and enigmatic Berlin club Berghain; as of 2016 he is also a resident at the lauded and Seminal Parisian Rex Club.

MOTTO Podcast is a podcast series by me, Miia Magia. All the tracks are handpicked in Helsinki mainly from the Scandinavian artists and labels with their upcoming, fresh & already classic releases. 
The first hour is selected by me, starting with deep and dubby house and continuing towards techno. My mix is also including a premier for two Motto Sono Records releases, which is a new label project run by me and Mr. Barth. Motto Sono is representing deep emotional grooves for the demanding dj and audience. 

On the second hour it's time for a mix from Mr Barth, a true music wizard. Since 1992 Mr. Barth has been displaying his version of deep and hypnotic grooves for labels such as SVEK and Turbo and now with Motto Sono Records this story will be continuing. He's serving us a mix with mainly Scandinavian classics and new goodies from his own productions together with his friends. The mix includes also tunes from the first Motto Sono release ”2020 Vision” to be released on the 17th of April!

Starting with her pure love for music, collecting records and clubbing lead Miia Magia to become one of the pioneering female figures in the Finnish club scene. Her musical journey took her through 90's UK alternative rock and 00's Nu Disco & House, finally arriving in today's classic Deep House and Techno.

DJ'ing all over Finland, organizing parties and working residencies at legendary Helsinki clubs such as Semifinal, mbar and DTM also made her a strong character in the LGBTQ+ scene, leading the Helsinki Pride parade for several years in a row. Invitations kept coming to Estonia, Spain and Sweden to play alongsides some of her favourite artists like Axel Boman, Cari Lekebusch, DJ Hell, Sister Bliss, Proteus, Orion and Roberto Rodriguez. Miia best describes her own style of playing as "deep and moody, sharp and groovy".

Living and breathing the Stockholm underground club and rave scene between 2015-2019 refined her skills as a DJ and ignited the start of her own label with Mr. Barth (aka. Cari Lekebusch). Motto Sono Records is now actively and comprehensively representing art and deep emotional grooves for the demanding DJ and audience with the motto "the only good system is a sound system”.
