Folk & Anchor is a collection of contemporary cover-songs done in a uniquely folk-y that have been meaningful to us over the years. As sisters, as a Southern folk band, as lovers of the story-telling songs, neo-soul, banjo, Beyonce, Hozier, Bob Dylan and beyond, we are eclectic music lovers. Our taste spans from the Hip-hop of our urban up-bringing in ATL to the deep roots of the American South. We grew up immersed in a musical family, and our songwriting and performance has been deeply influenced by so many Americana genres over the years. We wanted to create a body of work where all those influences could be showcased under one roof. So here we have it, a collection of songs; from "I Shall Be Released," by Bob Dylan that feels as timeless and important now as ever, to a string band rendition of Beyonce's new "Texas Hold'em,'" which feels like such an important moment in redefining the south, the banjo, and the wide diversity of its legacy. Each song has been carefully selected from a long list of favorites because they each tell a story in and of themselves. But more than that, they tell a story together, and that story weaves the listener into the sonic tapestries of the roots of the RisingAppalachia.

"Agua De La Madre" is a unique blend of North and South American traditions that bring together both the folkloric Latin and Appalachian musical sounds, offering a fresh perspective on cultural conversations, bolero traditions, and musical storytelling.
As lovers of the rich exchange of music and song, years of cross-cultural exchange and language studies brought this song to life through the troubadour-style travel and music studies. It is sung as an elemental ballad, meant to harken the feminine powers of the natural world; the ocean, the seas, the skies, and the wild grounds beneath our feet.
This lyrical journey serves as a testament to Rising Appalachia's deep connection to the international sinew of song, here blending the rich and vibrant textures of the waters of the feminine with their deep rooted Appalachian influences.
