"One of the most difficult aspects of the last 13 months has been the complete lack of sound systems, which define the spaces where I both forged and maintain my relationship with techno. Proper dancefloors cocoon you in sound, granting freedom of body, mind, and soul, allowing for a completely individual experience with music, even moments of transcendence, while surrounded by some abstract, shifting mixture of friends and strangers. Pandemic delivered the exact opposite of this freedom, with lockdowns and isolation, fear and anxiety. 

7 months in, my memories of being enveloped by sound, anonymous in a crowd, felt so distant; my connection to this music I love so dearly was deeply eroded. Where it was once fun to DJ at home as a means to invoke the dancefloor, I could no longer summon those feelings; trying to play music for myself, alone, on small speakers, left me feeling disconnected and confused. Faced with creating a set for Samhain, a task I would normally welcome with joy, honor, and a sense of purpose, instead filled me with dread, apprehension, and a feeling of being hopelessly lost. 

Putting this set together was the most difficult creative exercise I have ever engaged in, I never struggled so much in my life to DJ. I forced myself to listen through music, assemble a collection of tunes, and finally to record a set, doing my best to summon missing feelings and connect to the lost spaces that hold so much meaning. This experience was so troubling that it would be the last mix I made in isolation.

6 months later, vaccinations are beginning to become a reality, and while my beloved dancefloors are still a ways off, things feel much less hopeless than they did in the autumn. Listening back to this mix fills me with a deep yearning for what we are all missing, and also hope for our future. I look forward so incredibly much to the day we can dance together again!!! and I can't wait to see you all.

OVERVIEW:
We don’t question the relevance of techno in the current musical landscape, but look back ten years or so and you’ll
fgure things were a little stagnant and uninspiring. The techno scene in Berlin certainly did a lot to spruce new life in the
genre and people like Mørbeck with his Vault Series releases were somehow pioneers of the industrial-infuenced
sound we now celebrate and take for granted.

Now landing on M_Rec Ltd. with a 3-track EP, the Berlin resident fuses his aggressive sound with the hypnotic, darkroom
elements that have defned the label’s vision. Opener ’Pyramid’ stands on the more experimental side of techno.
Unpredictable and disquieting, the groove is a journey through an uneasy and freaky landscape. The bass drum here is
initially viscous, but as the track progressives it gets increasingly more interesting, craftily engineered. On top of it, it’s
basically a mixture of industrial and psychedelic elements, which keep the cut rather weird (in the best way possible)
until its conclusion.

Things get more ravey on the fip side, with ‘Arrival of the Stranger’ setting itself as a a stomping and forward driving
track. Bass and snare drum synced together scream Berlin from the beginning, serious and hostile. The groove refnes
itself into an amazing big room techno killer, getting wilder and more layered thanks to a set of subtle loops and razor
sharp arrangements. Closing the EP is a more druggy and crepuscular joint titled ‘Geometrix’. The groove is more fuid,
with feedback and soundscapes growing on top to narrate one hell of a dark and unsettling journey.

M_Rec Ltd. starts 2015 with a nasty release: three tracks that ft any moment of a proper techno set.

Bio:

 Meneer Willems is a 23 year old vinyl record collector and DJ from Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He is inspired by labels such as Northern Electronics, Hypnus and Silent Season and is interested in the deeper and hypnotic sides of techno.  Additionally, he was a frequent visitor of the famous Imprint nights in the legendary club Trouw.

Starting off with a couple ambient tracks, the mix gradually increases the tempo and tries to draw you along into the depths. The mix is recorded with two turntables and a Denon mixer.

It’s time for Lewis Fautzi to introduce his first album on Pole Group, a collection of ten tracks of cosmic techno, carefully crafted making a soundtrack of the future, deep, intense and scientific.

Psycho path is the intro, made of granular textures, subtle drones and ambiences, stepping into Entering, pulsating sub bass, continuous sinoidal sequences, pads and tension. 

Subconscious starts with the beat, opaque bass drum, micro hi hats, atmospheres and monotonous sequences at a low bpm rate while Diffracted speeds the tempo a bit with electric synths, flanges and twists creating an hypnotic number. Rentless pain follows, with resonant bleeps starring until assymetrical sequences appear and the synth lines evolve in a hi pass filter galore.

Seasick is humid and liquid, gummy sounds, clean drum programming, spaced out sounds and a lot of room. Then we come into Furrow, aimed to the intelligent dancefloors out there, synthetic bubbles, rolling sub woofer action , bleeps and noises. Cyclic Human reminds to the best scifi techno with bell like sequences, digital clicks, jazz harmonies and abstract progression. 

Number nine is Optic Chiasm a direct number based on an obscure drum workout and filled with hi pitched relentless sequences, intelligently arranged to create a mental feeling as well as inducing to dance. Album closes with The Brain Revolution, like an evolution of Entering, beatless but still preserving the tension and the movement.

A coherent and complete collection of precise, surgical and futuristic music to be enjoyed as a whole adventure..
