About Koudede :
Renowned Tuareg guitarist and songwriter, Koudede died on Sunday, October 28th of 2012 in a car crash on his way home to his family in Niamey, Niger. Koudede was well-known and respected in the Tuareg music scene for his solo work and participation in the groups Ishumar and Inerane.
Born in Agadez (Niger), Koudede grew up in Arlit, in northern-central Niger, between the foothills of the Ayar (Aïr ) Mountains and the sands of the Sahara. He made his first guitar from a tin can. By the time he held a real guitar, he was good enough to accompany musicians such as Abdallah Oumbadougou (Takrist ‘n’ Akal).
After spending time in Algeria and Libya, he moved to Agadez, known as the Tuareg capital, and in typical nomadic fashion started to travel around the Sahel region, following the calendar of family celebrations and community festivals.
He played for a time with other Tuareg musicians before composing and performing his own original songs. He came to the notice of the public for the first time at the ‘Cure Salée’ festival (‘salt cure’).
Koudede’s music was based on a traditional ternary rhythmic structure originated from the ‘tende’ – the Tuareg drum, which is played stretched across two pieces of horizontal wood. Initially, Koudede used his guitar like the ‘tehardent’ (three string lute), but eventually he took advantage of the full harmonic range of his guitar, developing his own individual style.
Koudede’s lyrics were based in Tuareg poetry, which recounted primarily what the traveler sees around him. Koudede’s songs were arranged in the form of repeated refrains, picking up and developing proverbs, advice or parables over the course of the verses. His songs spoke of young married life; camels; virtues such as patience; children’s games; of distant Tuareg camps and difficult loves. Sometimes there was anger – against cowardice, laziness, corruption or unjust wars.

 The Ensemble of Slavonic Ethnic Music “Vedan Kolod” (meaning ‘Prophetic tree’) was created in February 2005 in Siberia, Russia, by Tatyana Naryshkina. In July of 2005 Vedan Kolod won the prize as the best Russian folk band in the International World Music Festival Ustuu-Huree.In the summer of 2007 at the biggest Russian International Ethnic festival Vedan Kolod was the best in the Nomination Ethno-Experiment.Vedan Kolod has recorded two CDs: Plemena (Tribes) and Tanec leshih (The dance of the wood spirits). Vedan Kolod composes its own material, but it is based on recent research and analysis carried out by archaeologists and folklore specialists, interpreting events in ancient, pagan Russia before the coming of Christians coming. Vedan Kolod shows the culture of original Russian traditions and songs.During its history, Vedan Kolod had revived numerous almost forgotten Russian folk instruments – gusli, ocarina, Slavonic drums, Scythian horn, sharkuncy and others, - restored, mastered and reconstructed by musical master Valerii Naryshkin. All these ancient kinds of instruments are used actually in a program of the Ensemble, as well as a low throat style of singing which existed in Ancient Russia. In Istanbul, one evening in 2010, the Dj/producer Barış K, Cem Yıldız (vocals, machines, bağlama) and Hogır (percussion and vocal percussion) flew to the sacred skies of music by recording this incredible 24-minute live session. " Kime Ne" (translate "And then"), which we would call Sufi-Acid-Folk, mixes traditional oriental sounds, unbridled pulses of techno music and Ottoman poetry of the 16th and 17th century. It's sublime, bewitching, hypnotic. A true modern classic. That's why I wanted to revisit this track with my personal touch.

About this remix:
Zhyto (“wheat” in Ukrainian) was created by the Canadian group Nastasia Y & DoVira in the winter, in a cabin in the woods of Ontario. The song is built over repeated imagery of the traditional folk element of "wheat", symbolizing "home" for Nastasia, who immigrated from Ukraine to Toronto at the age of 11. This is contrasted with three folk songs (in Ukrainian,- sung by Ekaterina, and Polish - sung by Evelina Ferenc), intertwining the theme of the harvest with sorrowful songs about a bird's soaring flight. The song repeats the lines "A small bird flew over the field, looking for her falcon", in Ukrainian, referring to the lead singer growing up without her father. It ends with the line “Oh falcon, are you proud of me, like the wind is proud of the mountain?”
While the original explored spacious electronic sounds, the remix focused on bringing an earthy groove to the song, with guitars and percussion filling driving the song forward to downtempo dance floors.
