What is that jazzy heaven that starts at about 4 minutes in?

So, about a month ago, I was in a little bit of a creative rut (and totally in denial about it) "Yeah, I can totally finish music whenever I want, I just feel like doing nothing & playing CS:GO instead" is what I would tell myself (and believe). One weekend, I decided I’d leave my studio (where I spend most of my time alone) and instead spent a few days with a friend of mine. As an extension of being around her I found that creativity was inherent within me (and everyone for that matter), it just required me to see things from a new perspective. Unfortunately, it's not something I can just alter at will, regardless of my awareness of it. So, I decided, seems my friend indirectly & serendipitously triggered an adjustment in my perspective that it should be acknowledged & named accordingly.

The reason I didn't put it out a month ago is because, I'd never planned to release this track, I planned to give it to my friend and that's it. However, after a month of sitting on it, we both decided it'd be nice to give it away for free, and it also correlates with the fact that I just hit 30,000 followers on Soundcloud, so, thanks for that! I'm so stoked that people are supporting my weird ass music this heavily ^_^

Josh Fairman, Bassist and co-founder of Analog Son, met Recess in 2017 when they were on tour with his “electronic hydro-funk” trio, Sunsquabi. From the beginning, he loved their vibe and was profoundly impressed with their musicality and production skills. He sent him stems of the recently finished Analog Son record ‘Funky Mother’ and gave them creative freedom to just “have fun.” What came back blew minds!

They laid down a whole new chord progression over the melody, sprinkled in tasteful minimalist guitar riffs, and filled it out with bumping bass lines all while upholding the sassy integrity of the original. This remix will make itself right at home in playlists including the likes of Griz, Brasstracks, Big Gigantic, and beyond.
