With a steady drip of releases from labels such as Great Circles, L.I.E.S., and Jack Dept., Philadephia-based M//R (Billy Werner) has carved out a uniquely penumbral club zone. Informed by a lifetime in various underground music spheres and sharpened by steady DJ gigs across the eastern US, 𝑨𝒏𝒙𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 delivers Werner's deepest cuts to date. Heavy influence from classic dubs intersects with modern bass centric genres to deliver four tracks of floating pads and faveolatic percussion, simmering atop magmatic sub-bass rhythms. The center label reads "33-45 RPM" -- due to the analog nature of the recordings, it can be pitched down to languorous BPMs; every tempo and pitch offering new vistas for home listening or (hopefully soon) dancefloor revelations.

Get your milk at the ready, Maoupa Mazzocchetti is back with another batch of dextrose-saturated experiments.

With Maoupa, you never know what he's going to do next. If we were to put it simply, which isn't easy to do, his output matches experimental rhythms and abstract sound art to create bold and striking compositions which are rightfully described as raising more questions than answers. The first instalment of his UXY Dosing© (UD) album, a maximalist genre of electronic music that he's coined which is linked to the over-consumption of dextrose, came out last year and was explored in full in our Track By Track series. Now he's back with the follow up, another batch of unexpected and complex compositions that flaunt his dexterity at transcending genres and styles.

As PureData, Emiliano Pennisi crafts otherworldly electro-acoustic compositions formed from a vault of sound drawn from synthesis, field recordings and contemporary computer music.

Dissimulazione hints towards a profound knowledge of techno rigour but skirts any obvious geometries in favour of obfuscated and meta-coded electronics, those culutured in laboratory environments. Indeed Pennisi has honed his ear on the historical importance of INA-GRM and Metamkine, purporting to a specific love of Horacio Vaggiones’ work, alongside that of Aaron Dilloway and earlier electronic music via Smithsonian Recordings. These influences can be felt amongst other more academic guides through mathematics and cosmology.

The music is a flickering screen, a boiling crucible and an orbiting craft at once. Jerome Noetingers concept of "Cinema for the Ear" is once again beautifully realised. The music dramatic and often unearthly yet always reconnected to human agency, feelings of disorder, ordered and our earth crawling with insects and digital signals alike, all emitters in the eye of the same.

Without falling further into hysterics and hyperbole allow yourself time to listen and perceive the depth and detail of these works which cover a period between 2016 and 2024 and only scratches the surface of this artists body of work.
