Worst Records opens up a new chapter of its musical odyssey with WORST LTD, the brand new sublabel dedicated to intriguing ambient explorations and abstract experiments released in small quantities on CD.

For this first opus, C. Coiffure is back among us with a deeply conscious concept-album. Born from the idea that mankind is the antithesis of harmony in its relation to nature, and considering that other lifeforms manage to create a balance between them and their environment that we often struggle to fully understand, C. Coiffure pays homage to the organic beauty of these biotopes. « Freefloat » is a sonic continuum where electronics and field recording melt in each other, without any real interruption, creating almost autonomous structures and symbiosis that siphonophores, bee hives and ant citadels can incarnate as well.
Conceived as a whole, this first album of the new catalogue isn't limited by the illusion of an accomplished perfection and instead puts an awakening light on the nobility of happy accidents and the invisible harmony that surrounds us. An ode to life to start a new sonic saga.

Pour ce premier opus, C. Coiffure est de retour parmi nous avec rien de moins qu'un concept-album tressé telle une fable écologique. Partant du constat que la vie à l'échelle humaine est l'antithèse de l'harmonie avec son environnement, et que d'autres formes de vie parviennent, elles, à évoluer avec une cohérence et un équilibre qui nous échappent, C. Coiffure a souhaité rendre hommage à la beauté organique de ces biotopes. « Freefloat » se présente ainsi comme un continuum sonore où électronique et field recording s'entrelacent sans interruption réelle, formant des structures et des symbioses presque autonomes, à l'image des ruches, des siphonophores, des colonies de fourmis.
Conçu comme un tout, ce premier album du catalogue ne s'enferme pas pour autant dans la finitude d'une perfection artificielle, et donne à voir la noblesse de l'imprévu dans la création ainsi que la délicate et invisible cohésion qui règne autour de nous sans que nous n'en ayons le plus souvent conscience. Une ode à la vie qui inaugure une nouvelle saga sonore.

Today’s premiere comes from a label that has, over the last year or so become a close follow for myself and has graced a few of our ‘Bandcamp Pick’ lists. The Mexico City based ‘Secuencias Temporales’, precise artistic vision and breadth of their releases mesh well with us at Delayed and we’re happy to premiere ‘Urama’ off their forthcoming Aucuba Replica release.

If the name doesn’t sound familiar, Aucuba Replica represents the creative output of two Delayed favorites, Adhémar and Olorun. A combination that explores sound design grounded by field recordings and seemingly similar motifs that upon closer inspection contain a multitude of different details. 

Urama and in turn the rest of the release evoke visions of an unnamed jungle, through various states of clarity, light, and dark. The mists obscuring most of the inner workings, with the calls of birds echoing through the trees. Urama is a journey through the depths.

'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

Elena Colombi, born in Italy and based in London, is a respected DJ and radio host at NTS Radio. Where she's diving into the weird, the lost, the fresh and the more advanturous sounds.

This week OKO DJ prepared the barrier-breaking podcast. Well, maybe "prepared" is not exactly the right word as long as Marine's mixes are always contents only of music, that resonates with the moment, no matter how, when and under what tags it was released. There is eclectic yet organic selection of records from artists like Shit & Shine, Helena Hauff, Aphex Twin, Thomas Leer and Robert Rental, Jonny Rock, Krisma and many more.

With this podcast Marine gives us a chance to feel as if we somehow managed to sneak into her player and to check the latest playlist. Today it is filled with ambient, breakbeat, acid basslines laid over juke rhythm, post-punk with the ephemeral percussion loops, made with a synth and recorded on a tape, synthpop flirting with EBM, cosmic arpeggios, unidentified fizzing electronics and even atmospheric jungle.

Issue 33 documents a live instance of the work Nick Klein and Miguel Enrique Alvariño, two so-and-sos near the center of a wider orbit of fearless noise makers based in NYC. Together they explore the wooly fringe of DIY electronic producers via their Primitive Languages label; individually they each pursue idiosyncratic paths along the boundaries between club music and deep fried subcultural mulch. At the August 31, 2017 Surface Tension they played back to back, underlining their creative kinship and shared fondness for visceral redlining bludgeon shot through with unexpectedly supple and slinky rhythmic figures. We loved it.
