To celebrate Saint Jean Baptiste Day, which is a big deal in our hometown of Montreal, Turbo took over Piknic Electronik for a major Quebec outdoor party vibefest. It was a blast, another in an endless sequence of amazing hometown shows that always reminds me why I still live in Montreal. Here is my closing 2 hour set in its entirety, starting with Let's Go Dancing and ending with Clouds.... with a whole bunch of good tracks in between. Thanks to Piknic, and the Turbo crew, and of course my home town.

Ahoi, ihr Landratten!
Wieder sind zwei Wochen auf hoher See vorbei und ich habe euch von meiner Reise einen weiteren Mix mitgebracht. Der alte Klabauter und Binnenschiffer Markus aka http://soundcloud.com/soundwiese heuerte vor kurzem an und legt sich mit seinem "Stormy Sunshine Mix" mächtig in die Riemen. Also, erweist ihm eure Ehre und lauschet seinen Klängen und teilt es euren Nachbarn und Freunden mit (sharing is caring) und vor allem schnackt mit ihm (kommentiert seinen Mix), denn es gibt wie immer eine Menge an Seemannsgarn zu spinnen. Begeistert vom Konzept habe ich es nun endlich geschafft eine Antwort auf seine speziell melodiösen Strandtage zu mixen. Also bin ich ans Meer gefahren und habe voller Inspiration am heimischen Mischpult den Sonnenschirm aufgeklappt. Mein Soundwiese 2014 möchte ich mit diesem fröhlich vocal melancholischem Strand-Podcast eröffnen. Hiermit: Liebe Grüße an Roland :-)

Die Weite, das Meer, das Rauschen = die Natur zu erleben ist für mich immer ein magischer Anziehungspunkt, welcher die Batterie auftankt, vollkommen gleich ob Sonne oder Regen. 

Somit beginnt meine kleine Reise mit einer leichten Sturmfront, wobei sich der Himmel schnell wieder aufklart und die ersten Sonnenstrahlen hervorblinzeln. Der Rest des Tages scheint vielSonne, hier und da nur leicht bedeckt - die Strandparty beginnt. Genau diese lockere Open Air Strand-Atmosphäre habe ich mit melodiös fluffigem Deep Tech House und einigen vocalastigen Bootlegs aufgefangen, welche unbeschwert einen schönen Strandtag bereitet. Locker abhängen, Spaß haben, mitwippen, mitsummen, sich davontragen lassen - mal für ne Stunde die Zeit vergessen und sich Wohl fühlen. Nun, habt Spaß im Sand. Trocken oder nass. Here's the recording from my Dj set in Dublin last december. It was a great night in one of my favourite cities. Thanks to Shane for the recording and to everybody that came and party hard. It's a 3 hour set.

It’s been a long time since I’ve made a full length “live” mix of just my own material, mainly because I was focused on my album in recent times. But after some new studio additions and work developing new ideas and new experiments, I’ve got enough fresh material to draw on, along with some old, to put together a new live set only composed of my originals, some remixes I’ve done, and I had to include a couple from the Inhuman remix package because there’s some great work on there from Lusine and Rodriguez Jr. among others.

I’ve approached this mix a little more like my live sets of old, keeping it pretty smooth and letting the tracks do the talking, rather than going too heavy on the genre-swapping and BPM-juggling as I have been doing on other mixes recently. There’s still some (hopefully) unexpected moments though of course, a strings solo, some crunchy glitch, backwards Nyatiti, several brand new never heard before tracks, a homemade desolation bootleg of Spastik, my first ever totally analogue tracks (I’ve only recently taken the plunge into the analogue synth world), and two live Jazz improvisation sessions recorded recently in London.

The artwork embedded is made by Andre Britz, who has literally created some "fluid landscapes" works, of which he was kind enough to donate a custom piece for this mix - Thanks Andre! You can find him here: https://www.behance.net/Andre

As a whole, the mix is about being wrapped up in a warm exploration of feelings and landscapes. It will work best with a nice pair of headphones and an open mind. I hope there’s at least some parts in there you enjoy!

Notes
I made this mix at Easter for Berlin’s Podcast Series „spiel:feld“. A dubchord- based mix with a lot of electronica going to experimental minimal techno sounds. A downbeat feeling with a hypnotic flavor.
