Alberto Tolo is an Italian DJ and producer from Padua born in 1990, since early 2000 he started making and play his music, in 2006 he released his first ep and he never stopped. In early 2010, Alberto released his first ep on a very big label such as SCI+TEC which was followed by a second one a few years later. After his experience on minimal techno, he decided to move into more raw sound with the first release on Kaiserdisco's label KD RAW, this release changed his vision of music forever and kicked off his personal journey on hypnotic techno releasing tracks on underground techno collectives such Different sounds, Reflekt and in his own signature ALT.

Ahead of this weekend’s Bassiani booking, Berghain resident Fadi Mohem delivers a masterful blend of large scale rhythms for Bassiani Podcast 247. Raised in the leafy suburb of Spandau, the native Berliner always had the very best of nightlife within easy reach: exposure to drum ‘n’ bass, Detroit, the dubby incarnations of Basic Channel and IDM meting out references for a personal distillation of sound that saw him go from techno acolyte and sound engineering student to folk mainstay in just a few years. A stint at cult vinyl purveyor Hard Wax and the tutelage and encouragement of Ben Klock (they met in 2016) have permeated his work even further. From his alma mater to Dekmantel and beyond, his is a lexicon comprised of rhythmic loops and heavily stylised snarls that ripple, echo and penetrate the body; a catalyst for mental and physical experience that’s forward-looking and deeply intuitive. This latest one’s a 92 minute compilation of Mohem’s favourite sounds, an avatar for his high-concept sonic palette, assembly line beats from this nonpareil Berlin selector.

For this next number comes Amsterdam-based DJ/Producer Grace Dahl, a top-notch talent with a techno heritage. Some of her early years were spent listening to her dad spin records in Spain (the place her rave-loving Hungarian father and Finnish mother then called home), a teasing precursor to subsequent chapters in her tale. A later date saw her move to the Dutch capital: here at 18, she started playing local venues, refining her method and catching the eye of stalwart party series Vault Sessions, where she took up a high-octane residency. In the decade since the pieces have really fallen into place: she’s played Berghain, Awakenings, Boiler Room and a notorious b2b set with her dad at Amsterdam’s Basis. She’s also released her debut EP Dark Side of Desire and a number of follow ups on labels like Amelie Lens’ EXHALE and Frenzy Recordings. Moving forward to the speed of her productions, her very own imprint SDT (Serial Disc Touchers) saw daylight in 2024, a channel for her unfolding prophecy, featuring familiar names like François X and Julian Müller. And it’s a good one. Her sound skims across hard groove and traditional techno, rolling bouts of rhythm and sound that offer a palette you have to feel in the gut. It’s hypnotic, powerful, frenzied stuff, a cavalcade of masterful beats that won’t slow down for a soul. For Bassiani Podcast 256, Dahl brings every one of her razor sharp wits to the table and delivers an hour long blend of staggering scale, pure-blood techno made to measure from her studio base.
