Matt Radovich aka Mike Hunt has been a main player in Melbourne’s DJ circuit for years. With over 32 years of experience DJing all over Victoria. Matt is one of the founding members of the Infamous MTC Crew (Melbourne Techno Collective). MTC has been a cornerstone in the Melbourne techno scene and has been running for 21 years now.

Matt is also a member of the Stable Music crew. Stable Music is one of the leaders in Melbourne, bringing forward-thinking events and electronic music to Melbourne. Stable Music is responsible for bringing Piknic Electronik to Melbourne. They also bring the world’s best TECHNO acts to Melbourne at their Capacity parties. Stable Music has also brought Kubik to Melbourne. They have also worked closely with the Melbourne City Council and helping them bring quality events to Melbourne Music Week every year and Matt has been there every step of the way, since Stable Music’s inception.
 
Matt has played all around Australia including Adelaide, Sydney, Gold Coast, and Hobart, and has even played in Sri Lanka! Also, Matt was lucky enough to live out one of his lifelong dreams. He got to play his beloved TECHNO at the home of TECHNO, Detroit USA. Matt was asked by Bill from the Detroit TECHNO Militia to play at the Bang Tech 12 Anniversary party, over 6 years from 2013 til 2019. This party is one of the warm-up party to the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit (DEMF - Movement) and Matt got to share the decks with some of the cities and the world’s finest every year.

Matt Radovich has cemented his name in the Melbourne scene with guest spots at the largest festivals in Australia for example festivals including Creamfields, V Festival (Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne), Two Tribes, Good Vibrations, Listen Out, Solar, Stereosonic, Kiss my grass, Rainbow Serpent Festival (Disco Impromptu Theme Camp), Sunshine people, Hardware, Future Music Festival, Earthcore, Babylon Festival, Carl Cox presents Pure, We Love Sounds, Enchanted Forest and more.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

Today on Line Noise my guest is one of my early idols in electronic music: Dave Clarke, one of the first British producers to really put his stamp on techno music and a DJ of incredible skill. His iconic single Red 2 is now available digitally for the first time to mark its 30th anniversary; and it will be followed by a big box set later this year, including a Remastered version of his Archive One Album. In this interview we talked about everything from big kick drums to experiencing homelessness, hardcore to hip hop, passing by Daft Punk, journalism and Mark Lanegan.

Like Hip Hop, Techno Rave was what it was called in the very beginning of the American scene.  Hip would be the knowledge. Hop would be the Dance.  Techno was the Music, Rave was the Movement.  1990 The Peace Love Unity Movement.  In those first three years Rave expanded cross country and by 1993 every city in America had events.  Techno Rave had been dropped as Rave Music became commercialized & the Movement now worldwide.

Techno went back to it's underground roots from Detroit and Movement now established became about Respect.  Respect the Movement.  This was 1993.

Moving forward 30 years, Detroit Techno Militia are the gatekeepers of truth in Techno city.  They came to Brooklyn to spread the Detroit Love in a time and place where New York City is more like Gotham then the NYC we knew.  

But when Brooklyn is in the House, Brooklyn is in the House.  A small dedicated crowd of ravers & clubbers alike kept this party going unitl about 9 a.m.  

I played 1:20-2:40 a.m.  80 minutes.  When dipped in reality, we really represent the real in this culture.  Signiture styles which come from the beginnings of both Techno & Rave and can be copied but not duplicated.

Recorded live at Brussels festival Listen, the veteran talks about leading the birth of acid techno and the sound of proto-techno in Belgium.

At the turn of the '90s, Belgium was under the twin influences of early techno and '80s new beat. It was artists like CJ Bolland who helped usher these two sounds together, bridging the low-slung sludge of bands like A Split Second and Lords of Acid with the futuristic chug of Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills and Detroit's first guard. 

Bolland grew up in Antwerp and was exposed to underground music from his parents, who owned a club. Eventually beginning to produce himself, he helped create the early acid rave sound that would take over Europe. He signed to then-powerhouse label R&S Records with his career-defining single, "Horsepower," in 1991, and from there embarked on a prolific touring career.

In this Exchange, he talks to RA's senior producer Chloe Lula live from Listen Festival in Brussels, diving deep into Belgium's unique musical landscape and his thoughts on how it's evolved in response to its position between major techno hubs like The Netherlands and France. A massive gear head, Bolland also shares his favourite tools and reflects on how the state of music-making has changed in the years since he first started his career. Listen to the episode in full.

MTC parties are based on fun and good music and if you have never been to one, you should get yourself there to see what the fuss is all about.

Matty Radovich was fortunate enough to be handpicked to be the support dj for Dj Shadow's Outsider show in Melbourne featuring the Gift of Gab at the Forum. But it doesn't stop there, Matt was also asked to support the one and only Grandmaster Flash, under his alias Mike Hunt. Matt has also been asked to support Common at a Red bull Racing Gala party. Obviously Dj Shadow liked Matty, because Matt was also asked to support Dj Shadow and Cut Chemists together on the Hard Sell tour at their Melbourne leg of their tour of Australia. Matt was also asked to join Dj Shadow and Cut Chemist again at their Melbourne Show of the Renegades of Rhythm tour. Matt was asked to open the show for the infamous Wu Tang Clan. Matt has also supported the likes of many great funk, hip hop, electronic and dance acts like Flying Lotus, Gilles Peterson, Dj Krush, Amp Fiddler, Gaslamp Killer, Clark, Dam Funk, Scuba, Ras G, Africa HiTech, Claude Von Stroke, Hudson Mohawke, Harmonic 313, Platinum Pied Pipers, 2manydjs, just to name a few.
