This song is for all people who are fed up with role expectations. A neoclassical death metal ragequit with a haunting harpsichord and heavy guitars. I am very happy to turn these important lyrics into a song with an international and diverse band.

Temptation

When the magnolias bloom, it’s time to pour a favorite beverage, maybe a cuppa at daybreak, and enjoy the songbirds nestled in the trees overlooking the white petals of mid-spring magnolia.

Summer lurks around the corner, but it can wait! Chirpy melodies, cool morning breezes, and sumptuous magnolias, their blossoms swaying in the wind, set the pace. I think of it as Magnolia time — take it easy even when a busy day says no. Chill out. Tune in. And everything will work out. Stop and smell the roses. Or the blossom of magnolia.

Synth piano and keyboard with reverb, vibraphone, bass and bass arp, plus songbird audio set to RnB and Latin beats @ 85 bpm.

This song started as a hauntingly beautiful acoustic piece written and performed by James on his acoustic guitar. He shared it with JJ, who got the rest of us involved. JJ first added his barroom tinkle piano to the piece. Stephen quickly added the moody, tremolo guitar you hear throughout. Then, Ken and I did our little dance of back-and-forth bass-drum tracks until the rhythm section was solid. All that was left was for Stephen to mix it, with which we always appreciate his expert hand. 
  This is our first song with James, and it came together relatively quickly, which means we were all into it and having fun on it. James' page has a lot to hear on it-- some great originals and collabs, and some really cool covers, too. If you like this song, you'd really enjoy stopping by his page, too. As always, we hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as we enjoyed making it.

Shadows at My Door (The Eclectic Collective with Witches of the Alamo)

I'm a keyboardist with a love for layering sounds to create ambient, ethereal atmospheres and composing simple piano pieces to embellish. I love all genres of music, and find myself composing different types depending on my mood of the day.

I’ve never had formal training. As a teen, my parents wouldn’t let a piano in our house in Egypt, so I studied piece-meal at friends’ homes. When I got to college, I learned by going to university piano practice rooms. In my 40’s, I met my birth-mom who turned out to be a child prodigy, winning a Van Cliburn competition by playing Rachmaninoff at age 11. Most of what I play today, I learned from the techniques she taught me. 

I’m an American who has lived abroad for a good part of my life in Egypt, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Taiwan, and now back to Texas.
