Last month, I experience a 6.6 earthquake (fortunately only level 4 where I lived) and my building bounced up and down and rattled back and forth.  I thought I was a goner for sure on the 13th floor.  After the 7th largest aftershock, I finally was able to sleep around 5 am.  It was a night I won't forget.  I now tell everyone that I was visibly shaken...but not stirred. My dreams afterwards were about water, being outside without a mask, cobras and...buildings moving back and forth.

Maximum limit to be Fate

I wrote this a couple of days ago, sitting at my piano among the packing boxes.  It was just a flow of feelings piece.  I let it flow through my hands and out through the piano, trying to express my feelings of sadness at leaving this beautiful place and excitement at heading north for a new adventure by the sea in Northumberland. Just because we can and why not give it a try, get some sea air, walk on the beach, listen to the waves.  Apologies this is a warts and all recording on my phone with an occasional hesitation while I work out where I’m going.  I hope you enjoy the journey.

Preparing for Flight. Piano Instrumental.

I'm a keyboardist with a love for layering sounds to create ambient, ethereal atmospheres and composing simple piano pieces to embellish. I love all genres of music, and find myself composing different types depending on my mood of the day.

I’ve never had formal training. As a teen, my parents wouldn’t let a piano in our house in Egypt, so I studied piece-meal at friends’ homes. When I got to college, I learned by going to university piano practice rooms. In my 40’s, I met my birth-mom who turned out to be a child prodigy, winning a Van Cliburn competition by playing Rachmaninoff at age 11. Most of what I play today, I learned from the techniques she taught me. 

I’m an American who has lived abroad for a good part of my life in Egypt, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Taiwan, and now back to Texas.
