I originally created this song as a Sample Skull demo using a pre-production version of a Felt Piano instrument I am working on for a soon to be released Kontakt Instrument Library .

I had just downloaded the free PINK Drums from anydaylong and they fit in perfectly with the warm sound of the Felt Piano. The Felt Piano was used for the bass, the riff and the tinkling lead noodling. 

I also added one of my Sample Skull original Space Synth sounds.

With just 2 Sample Skull instruments and the drums I quickly had a song that was full sounding and representative of the quality of the sounds I developed with the samples.

Other than a limiter on the master track and custom IR Impulse Responses within Kontakt on the Felt Piano, there are no additional effects or EQ.

I think it sounds great out of the box!

This is segment from a recording session for a sound design project I am working on for Pulse Radiate Sound Design Labs. This segment is part of a planned set of ambient soundscapes, textures and pads for sound packs for Ableton Live and other formats. Recorded Dec. 18, 2012 on My Zoom H4 just north of the Main Beach in Laguna Beach , CA. The tide was as low as I had ever seen it and I was able to walk all the way up to the rocks where the birds and sea lions hang out.

This is just a quick demo I made while tinkering with the samples from a beautiful Felt Piano I am creating a Kontakt Instrument and Sound Library around. It's pretty much naked, but I worked in some delay to see how it would sound. I'm biased but I think it sounds amazing!

I've composed and recorded a TON of original material over the years and have a vault loaded with sampled treasures I will be sharing. I am  into creating new sounds and music and exploring the capabilities of Ableton Live, Native Instruments Reaktor and Kontakt, Spectrasonics Omnisphere and all kinds of new stuff I keep running into that I can't help but experiment with. While I may have progressive rock roots with a fondness for music played live by musicians, I also enjoy a huge variety of genres including electronic music, cinematic and ambient. I create all different styles of music myself, mostly on the computer these days. I'm totally into sound design and sometimes tweaking a sound will take me in unexpected directions. I hope you like what I share!
