You Are Not Alone

Chasing Dreams is about turning a dream into a reality. The hardest part is just trying, over and over again, until you finally achieve your dream. The lyrical story tells how when I first moved out I wrote a letter to my father explaining that I am his son, I am very different from him, and that's not a bad, it just is. So often our parents with good intentions want us to be a miniature version of them and continue their traditions, but the key to happiness is to align yourself with who you are and live accordingly.

I started writing Hey Girl and got the initial verse and chorus when I wanted a song about love and not about lust. Lust is good for comedy but so many songs parade as love songs when they're really lust songs. Lust is selfish, love is selfless. When I met Sarah (who became my wife) she inspired me to write the rest of the song. I love you Sarah!

Mixed Signals is one of the first full songs I wrote and recorded. It's about that initial moment when you make eye contact and feel that connection. Neither of you have spoken yet, but the eyes say so much more than words can say. But then you both go about life as if nothing happened. Mixed Signals is the inner monologue of what could happen.
