Born in Adelaide Australia, Michalis Philippou was always given instruments for his birthdays and was lucky enough to see most of the live Broadway Musicals. He had a constant obsession recording everything on cassette or VCR and still has his Moms old vinyl collection of Bony M, MJ, Prince and a lot of bad 80s stuff.
From Adelaide’s early 90s hip hop scene and a decade in NYC West Village, Mike Polaroid is still a huge hip-hop fan, and though he is not a hip-hop DJ per say, the early influence of the turntable, drum machines and sampling is still evident in his performance and production around the dance of today. Not being labelled one style or another, Mike is one of the new age DJs who is not defined by a specific genre.
Live Video & DJing, he loves playing in nightclubs, festivals, special events, and even retail stores, but his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes.  A music and video producer, he has releases under previous guises such as Mike Styles or HookerDJs.  In his free time out of the studio, he can be spotted playing tennis or taking time-lapse photographs              
His dance music teases the concept of tension and release and his unique sounds reflect a sense of discovery, surprise, exhilaration and natural resolve. Mike’s music holds emotions normally associated with movies.
